Add variant to product not working

Recently updated and now cannot add a variant to a product. The save button doesn't add one variant (a new colour "Ice") to those existing. It will save older colours ("Blueberry" for example). Ice seems to be properly configured, and before the update had been added to other products without any problem.
I've checked the database.
In Characteristics Ice is configured exactly the same as Blueberry.
Would someone be able to advise please.

I've sent login details for the staging copy.
I have tried a different browser (clearing caches as well) and could not see any errors flagged up using my basic knowledge of Chrome inspection console. I also tried disabling JQuery Plugin.

Problem shows when adding the "Ice" [57] option from the "Colours" Characteristics [5] as a colour variant for Colours_Compact_Click [192]. Other colours from those characteristics can be added, but not "Ice", for some reason.

I have the issue still, as described above, adding the colour Ice as a fifth variant to the 4 current variants for the Compact_Click_Colours.
Ice is already one of "Colours" [id 5].

I want to add Ice to the variants of product "Compact_Click_Colours"

I have not tried adding the ice variant to a new product as you did.

It's strange, but I'm not imagining it.

Other characteristics (for example "Blueberry") can be added without any problem, but not "Ice".

I have also tried to rename an old, outdated colour, as a work around, but when I do the price for the variant disappears and at the front end that characteristic becomes "not available".

In fact, when I try to update any of the variants, its current price becomes lost and then those un-priced variants are then "unavailable" when trying to add to the cart. I can solve this as a problem by setting on "Display 'add to cart' button for free products", which took some finding. (Why would you not add free products?)

Would you mind checking to confirm I am not losing my mental health, please.

You are absolutely right Nicolas. But the product [192] is there and it's called "Colours_Compact_Click" not Compact_Click_Colours - my bad! So, the problem shows on the "Ice" [57] member of the Colours [5] characteristics being added as a 5th variant to the Compact Click [191] main product.
