-- HikaShop version -- : 3.5.1
-- Joomla version -- : Joomla! 3.8.11 Stable

I know this has to be a FAQ. I have looked on the forum and only finding old answers for old versions. I'm alos little confused by the response as I'll explain. I'm working only with two categories and two products for each online and published.

In the configuration I have "Use canonical URL and generate if missing".

In the product page I have a "floral dress" listed with no canonical URL set within the SEO.

Can you guide and direct from first principles please? I am wanting to make sure:

(a) I am removing all references to Hikashop in the URL
(b) I optimse SEO going forward
(c) That my categories are set up correctly and they too do not display any Hikashop references in the URL.

It has been slightly confusing reading other posts on this, some going back four years. For example my menu "display" only shows two options: "views" and "custom fields"; am I missing something.

Thanks in advance

:-)

Hi,

The hikashop-menu-for-module part of the URL is the alias of your menu item.
So simply change the alias of your menu item to something else via the joomla menu manager and that's it.
Once you have the URLs like you want, if you have several URLs to access the same product page, it is a good practice to enter the main URL you want to be indexed by search engines in the "canonical URL" setting of the products.
That's about it.

Hi. Thanks Nicolas,

So I go to my menu manager and search for hika and find an alias "hikashop-menu-for-module-110". I change this to "categories" and save and close.

When I go back to the front end and select "dresses", where there was two dresses, now there are none. I also still have "hikashop-menu-for-module-110" still listed in the URL

??

Hi,

Then it's either that you didn't empty the "canonical URL" setting of the products you're looking at (but you said that the product didn't have a canonical URL in your first message), or you have some caching that you need to clear to see the change.
Regarding products disapearing from the listing, that has nothing to do with changing the alias of the menu item. So it must come from something like, like for example the products don't have any stock anymore and you've configured the menu item to not display the products out of stock.

: I have been around the products, categories, menus, modules and configuration to find any reference to canonical URL; where it exists it has been left blank

or you have some caching that you need to clear to see the change

: I gave this a week and worked on two sites, local and server.

Regarding products disapearing from the listing, that has nothing to do with changing the alias of the menu item. So it must come from something like, like for example the products don't have any stock anymore and you've configured the menu item to not display the products out of stock

: the stock is set to "unlimited" and the display setting on menu is set to show.

OKAY FIXED!

In "Modules: mod_hikashop" I had not assigned a menu in "data display". I have now assigned "products listing" as menu and that works

Thanks for assisting in the troubleshooting. Appreciated.
