-- url of the page with the problem -- : www.draganfly.co.uk/search?searchword=t3...g=&option=com_search
-- HikaShop version -- : 4.0.2
-- Joomla version -- : 3.9.0
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Chrome

Hello All,

When I search for a part number the Hikashop Categories/Manufacturers plugin returns the results however sometimes it returns incorrect search results but this is only for the categories. The products are perfect. In my example when searching for T3545 using the following link www.draganfly.co.uk/search?searchword=t3...g=&option=com_search not only does the category link return 404 but it then forwards to another link

Search result link is www.draganfly.co.uk/index.php/ariel/arie...ry/113-2stroke-tools
which then redirects to www.draganfly.co.uk/about-us/ariel-colt/...ine-gearbox-a-clutch

whereas correct link is www.draganfly.co.uk/index.php/ariel/2-st...ry/113-2stroke-tools

Can anyone direct / help? I have tried clearing cache, unpublishing then republishing ....

As always, many thanks.
Iain

Hi,

The best would be to enter the URL you want for your categories (and even the products) in their "canonical URL" field.
First, that will help for your SEO.
And second, if you activate the "force canonical URL on listings" setting of the HikaShop configuration, the search results will use the canonical URL of the element instead of generating a URL dynamically. That will prevent duplicate errors and 404 issues for the search results.

Hello,

Thank you for that, when I set force Canonical URL most of the links are then broken and when I type in a canonical url within Hikashop Categories it fails to work. I'm sorry but I don't understand what is going wrong.

Cheers
Iain

Hi,

If the links are broken when you activate that setting, it means that the URL you entered in the "canonical URL" of your products/categories are incorrect.
Please review them. They need to be valid if you want to use them. If you enter incorrect URLs in the canonical URL fields, that will hinder your SEO, even with that setting turned off, so you definitely don't want that.
