For a new site i'm working on, the shop will be selling liquids (shampoo's, conditioners etc...) those types of products are classed as a volume. The problem is i cannot seem to find where i can specify liquid volumes. It's not under "weight" and not under "volume" at the "restrictions and dimensions" section

Any chance the next version could come with the options of "ml", "cl","dl" and "l" (milliliter, centiliter, deciliter and liter")?

Hi,

Well, you can have such units.
For example, if you add a translation override like this:
KG="L"
Then you'll see L instead of Kg for the weight unit.
That's what people usually do when they want to enter liquid volume for their products and display them / use them for shipping method restrictions etc.
Now I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve with that so that might not meet your needs ?

with doing an override is if you have other products that use the weight unit of kg (which are also in the inventory) is that they'll now also show as the liquid volume. I'd love to see 1 liter of chicken for example ::P:

I worked around it for the moment using variants. or am i just misunderstanding and is that how i'm supposed to do it

variants for the products, and the "weight" is only used for calculating parcel weight for shipping?

** edit ** the ones i'm referring to were the ones under System > Advanced > dimension symbols and weight symbols.

Hi,

I still don't know why you're trying to have other volume units ?
What we you use them for ?
You could potentially just create a custom product field and enter the full information yourself in each product.
For example, product A would have "2.5 Kg" in that custom field, and product B would have "1.5 L" in that field.
But maybe this won't work for you ? I don't know why you're trying to add that information on your products so I can't say. If it's just for information display on the product page, then a custom product field should be fine.

yeah, this case has been solved. It's been solved by using variants. Works and displays just like i want it. I guess the volume and weight is exclusively used to calculate shipping weight and dimensions. Works fine :)
