-- url of the page with the problem -- : peakeperennials.co.uk/shoptest/index.php/shop-all-plants
-- HikaShop version -- : 4.2.3 -Essential
-- Joomla version -- : 3.9.16
-- PHP version -- : 7.3.16
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Firefox 75.0

Hi
I used to have a Category name of "PP-Categories" but it was showing in the browser tab. So I renamed it in the category tree to "OnlineShop".

But the browser tab name did not change, it stayed at PP-Categories -even though it didn't exist anymore. I rebuild the database, still the same.
After searching the forum for similar issues I made a number of changes to various settings, both in Joomla Menus and HikaShop. Attached shots of current settings...

But the browser tab name remains at the non-existing category name of "PP-Categories" see below...

Why is it still displayed when it does not exist in HikaShop category listing? Must be a reason, something hasn't forgotten it...
Have I missed something?

Thanks

Hi,

The "use content heading instead of category name for title" setting is used to decide what to display for the "component heading" on the page. But since you have the "show component heading" setting turned off, no component heading will display and thus that setting doesn't matter.
For the page title, which is what is displayed as the "tab title" of your browser, the system will first use the "page title" setting of the category. If that's empty, it will use the "browser page title" of your menu item.
So I suppose that you must still have "PP Category" in the "page title" setting of that category.

Hi

I'm maybe being a bit of a numskull here but I can't find where you suspect I still have "PP Categories" set. You say it's probably in the "page title" of the category... but I'm struggling to find this setting anywhere. I looked in the Joomla Category "Shop" and I don't see it (attached)

Is this where I should be looking?

I've looked in the Joomla Menu item settings, can't find it, and I can't see any setting like this in the HikaShop Category for what was the 'PP-Categorgies' (which is now renamed to 'OnlineShop' and has been for some time) -attached.

And I'm struggling to find where you say I have the "show component heading" setting turned off...

Can you supply a pointer or two as to where I actually need to look? Maybe I've just looked straight through it or more likely not looked in the right place.

Thanks
Regards

Hi,

Your first screenshot is of a Joomla article category. These are not used by HikaShop.
On your second screenshot, click on the "root" link of the explorer. Then, on the right side, edit your "onlineshop" category.
It's on that setting page of this category that you should have the "PP categories" text inside the "page title" setting.

And the "show component heading" setting is under the "page display" tab of your menu item when you edit it via the Joomla menu manager. Each menu item has such setting.

Hi, Thanks

OK, so did look right past the "page title" box - but it doesn't say "PP Catergories" it says "Peake Perennials online shop"...?? How's that work?

I changed the title box to something else but the "PP-Catergoies" still appears on the browser tab for the menu Cat Listing.
I then cleared the Page Title box, but "PP-Catergoies" is still displayed on the tab
I renamed the OnlineShop category, clicked "rebuild", no change to tab.
So still confused as to where this "PP-Catergoies" is set.

Did you mean "Show Page Heading" on the Page Display menu item? Can't see a "Show Component Heading" there...?
Changing this to YES didn't make any difference.

It's as though the PP-Categories is in a database field somewhere and is not being overwritten by changing these settings.
Regards

Hi,

Well then I don't know. I would need to directly check your settings to see the whole picture.

Please provide a link to the page with the page title issue and a backend access as well as a link to this thread via our contact form:

Hi,

I wanted to check on the issue today but I'm not able to access your website. I get an error message when I try:
monosnap.com/file/uPVHSaYM3ANdSbNCI0DcNCjE6WlYwy
Could you check the situation and let us know when it's working again so that I can look at that issue with the page title ?

Hi

Bad timing! I've had to swap hosting packages so I can get an SSL certificate - and they chose to do it now!
Should be done in a few hours - as long as it all goes to plan, but I may have to go in and fix things first tho.

Try later this afternoon or tomorrow... or I can update here...
Thanks again

Hi,

Well, I checked your website but I don't see the problem.
The tab title is "Online Shop" and not "PP categories":
monosnap.com/file/X7K7FyThLCYHemlZOOyYOgMeCkYlOj
So it seems to be working, or we're not talking about the same thing.

Well, not sure what to say! It does now seem to be saying the right thing...!

I've done nothing since your last suggestions, I closed the tab, refreshed it, rebuilt the Categories (whatever that does) it always said PP Categories...
What has happened today is I installed an SSL certificate late this morning so it's now all HTTPS instead of HTTP. There was a brief time when the site & admin vanished but then came back as HTTPS, I assume this was the switch over - maybe this forced the change...? no idea.

So, sorry for apparently wasting you time! (and a lot of mine too!) and thanks for the always available help you guys provide.

Cheers

Hi,

No worries.
Maybe you have some caching or CDN system on your website/web server preventing you from seeing the change immediately ?
Or maybe even your browser was caching the pages ?
That's all I can think of.
