Hi Nicolas

I am trying to add a product price restriction based on user group, which I have done many times before, the problem I am having is my site has allot of user groups, when I expand the access level tree under the prices and Taxes section it only displays the first 1734 groups.
How can I get it to display more of the groups?

Hello,

I'm sorry to say this, but are you sure it is necessary to have so many user groups?
I mean your issue must be here, a display issue, but you have to know that more your data (in your sql) have entries, more your website will be slow (due to heavy sql request).
It's never a good point for an e-commerce to have long pages to display.
Anyway, I guess that as it's a display issue, you can add custom css command in your Back-end CSS File to make the spot more high and be able to see your required user group references.

See this tutorial to see how to add custom css command, but here for the backend css file.
Hope this will help you to solve your issue.

Regards

Hi Philip

I am aware of the fact that having many user groups is not ideal, the problem I have is we offer e-learning courses and qualifications, each time a new course is added the system automatically creates a teacher and student user group for that course, additionally the way we have it setup a learner can register and make payment for the course which includes 2 exam attempts, if they don't pass they need to be able to then purchase a third, fourth or fifth attempt, since they are not allowed to register for attempt 5 before they have registered for attempt 4 I am using Hikashop's restriction settings to manage this which needs user groups this results in a course needing up to 10 user groups to get everything displaying correctly.
Each year I need to create a new version of each course and due to the amount of courses this easily adds up to 200 to 600 new user groups per year.
If you have any suggestions on how this can be achieved without using this many user groups I am open to suggestions.

Not really sure how the custom css is going to help, what will I need to change to allow more groups to be displayed on the restriction list, please see attached a screen print of the list I am referring to.

Hello,

Thanks for your elements, I now better understand your point, and actually your case is really not the easiest...
Even if you made a very detailed answer, I imagine that I still lack subtleties as for your needs.

If you want restrict access for each user/customer maybe you need to give access to e-learning through a download ?
The download is display only in customer account.
And use a mass action to associated each customer and order to a teacher via a custom field (order type).
But I'm afraid this will require a more complete listing elements to understand all needs and use conditions, and maybe will leads to a specific custom ?

For your current issue, I thought that what would prevent you from be able to selecting all the user groups was a display limit but your answer makes me doubt...
As, have so many user group isn't really usual maybe we need to see your issue in your backend.
Can you use the Contact us form to provide backend access, with url and precise location where we can see your current issue.
Don't forget to add an Url link to this topic in your message please.

Awaiting news from you to be able to progess on your subject.
Regards
