-- Joomla version -- : 3.9.23

Hello there,

When product images are clicked on, they are displayed modally. This is fine on large screens, but on smaller screens the image proportions are not kept as the image is squeezed into long portrait aspects. The image pop-ups are not responsive. Please see attachment

My customer does not want these displayed on a phone, because they worried the images look so bad and distorted, the product will not sell.

How can I stop the image to be displayed as a modal pop up, but still keep the ability to switch the main product image by clicking on the thumbnail.

Many thanks
Marcus

Hi,

There is no such mode by default.
So to do exactly what you want, you would have to develop a custom plugin, like the one here which allows you to select another "image popup mode" in HikaShop configuration, under the "Display" tab:

Hi Nicolas - thanks for getting back to me.

That's disappointing, as I understood Hikashop was suppose to be responsive. However if it's not possible to view product images using smart phones, without the images being distorted - then I don't consider HikaShop "responsive". As you can see in the attached image of the initial question, the image is so distorted it makes the business look very unprofessional and the image is of no use to customers.

The Business edition of HikaShop is not the cheapest eCommerce software available, so I would expect it to have the ability to display product images on smaller screens, without them being distorted - I'd suggest it's a basic requirement.

Hi,

Your question was about removing the popup altogether while changing the on click on the thumbnails to change the main image.
That's not possible without development and I was mainly answering to that question of yours in my message.
Now, the popup not displaying properly is a problem with the popup system used to display the image.
Looking at your screenshot, it seems that in the "image popup mode" setting, you've selected "mootools" which is an old popup system from 10 years, not well adapted to smartphones.
The default mode is "shadowbox (external)" and it shouldn't have the problem you're describing. If it does on your website, we would be happy to have a look at the situation if you could provide a link to a page with the issue.
Also as I said, the plugin provided by obsidev on our marketplace offers more popup alternatives, with some of them even optimized for smartphones. So you might want to look at it.

Apologies I misunderstood - I believed you was suggesting the only way to resolve the distorted image issue on mobile phones, was to buy another plugin. I'll have a look at the "shadowbox" alternative to see if it works better.

Many thanks
