-- HikaShop version -- : 4.4.0

Hi Hika team,
When a customer clcks on a brand on the product detail page they get a page with all products of that brand. Love that feature.
But that brands product page has 5 columns and I adjusted my thumbnail size to 200 x 200 px and have 4 columns on normal product listing pages.
Now the images for the brands product listing are to large with 5 columns.

How and where can I adjust the numer of columns displayed on the brands product page since there is no menu item for the settings. At least not as far as I know of.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

There actually is a menu item used for the products listing of a brand.
If you look at the URL of such page on your website, you can see before the key word "categorie" (which comes from the "category SEF name" setting of your HikaShop configuration), the alias "merken". So the system automatically uses the menu item with the alias "merken" and its settings.
So it's this menu item that you want to edit via the Joomla menu manager.

Thank you very much Nicolas. It was the menu item in the Hika Shop default menu's.
But I have another problem according the products brand listing.
If you look at the original product page

This message contains confidential information

and scroll a little bit down until you see the black shampoo bottles with the brand Advance Techniques . You can see I ordered them by sub names like Color Correction, Ultra Sleek, etc.
But if you take a look on the products brands listing
This message contains confidential information
nothing is ordered anymore.

Is there any way to get the same layout on the brands listing page as the ordering in the actual products page?

Hi,

There is.
You need to create a custom field of the table "product" and the type "text" via the menu Display>Custom fields.
In each product, enter the number you want for the order in that custom field.
Then, edit your "merken" menu item and change the "order column" for that custom field and the ordering will be based on the value you entered in that custom field in each product.

Hi,

First, note that in this custom field, you need to enter the ordering you want for the product in his brand products listing.
So products of the same brand in the same category might not necessarily follow one after another.
For example, if you didn't enter any value in that custom field for products in other categories for that same brand, they will have an ordering of 0 and thus be listed before the products I can see on your screenshot.
So you need to make sure that the value you enter in that field is unique among all the products of the same brand.

Besides that, the only thing I could see is that you didn't set the "ordering column" in the correct menu item. As you only provided a screenshot of the section of options where the "ordering column" setting is in the menu item, I can't confirm that you're editing the correct menu item. So please double check that.

I don't see any other reason why the ordering wouldn't be what you expect it to be on that brand products listing. If you can confirm that it comes from neither of these, then please provide a backend acccess via our contact form so that we can check on the settings:

Thank you Nicolas and my apologies for my late reply.
To be honest I don't quite understand your answer.
I'm using a paid template which was a quickstart version with Hikashop already installed and an example shop with products and categories.
So in the backend product listing there was a folder named Brands[1].
So every time I'm adding a product I put it in that folder but I also put in in the brands field (which I renamed to Merk/Geurlijn)[2]. Please see attachment.
So now I do not only have the product in his product category but also in the Brands folder.
Now when I open that Brands folder (Advance Techniques)[3] I can see the ordering of the products I entered in the custom field of that product.
It's the same I see when I open the product category folder in which I placed this products (Shampoo & Conditioner).
So do you mean I have to order them all first so no product has a value of 0 anymore before it works?

Second you say "Besides that, the only thing I could see is that you didn't set the "ordering column" in the correct menu item."
I used the menu item Merken as you said in the topic above. It was in the Hikashop Default Menu. I thought it was the right menu item since I could also change the number of columns in that menu item.

I hope I gave you enough information. Otherwise please let me know if you need backend access.
Thank you for your afford.

Hi,

The brands being listed in the explorer on the categories listing is a quirk left as a backward compatibility for early users of HikaShop.
The ordering you can set for the products in the listing of the brands there is not taken into account.
That's why I said that you need to create a custom field of the table "product" where you can enter the ordering you want for each product. And then select that custom field in the "ordering column" setting of your menu item.
In your screenshots I can see that you didn't do that and that's why you don't get the result you expect.

I'm sorry Nicolas but where can I find this ordering column in my menu item you are talking about? This is the only field I have to choose the product_volgorde custom field. For the rest I did everything you said. At least I think I did.
Made the product custom field, entered the order of the products in that field, so please tell me which column you mean by "ordering column" in my menu item. Am I at least editing the right menu item?

Hi,

In your menu item, go in the "products options" tab.
You can see it at the bottom of this screenshot of that tab:

In that "ordering field" setting, you will find the product_volgorde field you can select for the ordering of the listing displayed by this menu item.

Hi Nicolas
What type of menu item should this be? Because as I said before this is a quickstart template and the menu item is/was a categories listing. But looking at your screenshot I looks like a product listing menu type since I see no category options in the tabs of your screenshot.
So I tried to switch the menu item type to products listing but that doesn't help either.

Hi,

Your screenshot looks correct.
So I don't see why that wouldn't work.
Maybe you have some caching on your website preventing you from seeing the change ?
Besides that, I don't see why it wouldn't work so we would need a backend access to check the settings of your website ourselves to be able to say more.
