Hello there

I hope you can help me. I was working in the Products View. I selected 2 Products to move them into a specific category (called Marlin). I used the "Actions" "Update Categories" "Replace" in the Products Table View.

Unfortunately - and because it's already late - I accidently just said: "Update Categories", "Replace" entered "Marlin" - which wasn't found due to I haven't specified that Category and pressed enter.

Now I lost all already entered products. They seems to be existing in the table m2shop_hikashop_product but I cannot see all the products in the backend anymore.

Please can you help me? There are hours of hours which I already worked on the backend and the products - more than 2 weeks works. What happend?

Best Mike
PS: I can send you the SQL-Dump but ti's larger than maximum upload.

If I go over the search on the Frontpage (not the Backend), I can find the products that are not existing anymore in the Backend / HikaShop / Products.

Hi,

This means that the products have been deassociated from any categories.
What you need to do is this:
- click on the "check database" button of the HikaShop configuration. That will associate all the products without a category link to the main default category of HikaShop.
- then, go in the Products>Products menu and with the left explorer click on the "product category" category which is the main default category (it might be another name if you changed it in the past) and you'll see the products there. You can then edit them and select the category you want and save them.

Dear Nicolas
Thank you for your message and your reply. You approach seems to work and bring the products back to main product categeroy. But now I have to update over 500 products to the categories structure again! This is quite a lot of work :(

What I have done is simple and can happen to anybody. I can reproduce the error - follow the steps:
1.) Open Products
2.) Select some products (not all - in my case i selected 2 products)
3.) Actions/Update Categories/Replace
4.) Give the name of a category that is not defined (can also happen if you don't write a category name properly!)
5.) Just press Enter (without mouse).

Then the message appears that "0" Categries has been replaced and all products categories are erased.

IMHO this is a really fatal problem. Giving something that is wrong can cannot be found - press enter and without any question or warning your product categories are screwd. I have a small shop but still - 500 products sort into multiple categories again i still a lot of work. Some products have more than one category. And then in addition: Order the products again i assume with the complicated (and currently buggy) product order.

Oh my - so I know what I have todo in the next hours... :(
Please add a security to batch processing if the category cannot be found. It's a user guided interface and should keep the user away from such wrong usage.

Thank you and with best regards
Mike

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that.
That's indeed an issue we hadn't considered.
The mass actions system in Syste>Mass actions has a validation before processing. However, when we ported the actions system from the mass actions to the "actions" button of the listings, we didn't thought about it.
We'll look at improving this.
