Hi,

I activated the use multiple language on this site
When I put someting into the standard description field, both languages (NL and GB) display the same.
When I goe to the GB tab and translate my Dutch part, the english part of the site still displayes the Dutch part.
I have made other hikashop sites and they are OK.
Maybe I have overlooked something?

Best regards, Theo

Hi,

This usually happens when you had installed Falang previously. The tables of Falang in the database are not removed when you uninstall Falang and HikaShop finds them and store your translations there.
But without the Falang plugin to replace the translations on the frontend, you keep seeing the original texts on the frontend.
Rename the falang tables in your database via your PHPMyAdmin and redo the translations and it should work.

Hi Nicolas,

This was indeed the solution but having still one problem with the translation of one custom field.
When I do my thing and save the custom field, the label is translated but not the text.
I get this message:
Deprecated: strip_tags(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($string) of type string is deprecated in /home/customer/www/thelsbexperience.com/public_html/administrator/components/com_hikashop/classes/field.php on line 1563

Hi,

The message is not linked to the issue. Thanks for reporting it, we'll fix it.

For the issue, could you provide more information ? How is your custom field configured ? Could you provide some screenshots ? And what did you fill in the translation popup before saving it ? And how did you find that the text is not translated ?

I would like to leave a comment at checkout before you choose the country. Something like, if your country isn't listed here, email us
In the screenshots you see where I whant this text and how I configured it.
When I put my text in the custom textfield, I first save it. Then I go to the translation tab, put my translation in it, save it.
In the frontend only the label is translated but the text not.
When I go again to the Custom Fileds, it seems the translation window is empty....

Hi,

I created a similar field on my end and it worked fine:

So I'm not sure why it wouldn't work on your end.
Maybe it's linked to the special characters in the "custom text" area ?
Try to enter a translation key in there and translate the key in all the languages.
It will do the same but will avoid potential matching issues because of special characters.

Also, you said "it seems the translation window is empty". What does this mean ? The popup is completely blank ? That would mean a fatal error has happened and you would have to activate the 'debug' setting of the Joomla configuration to get the error message in the popup, in order to understand what's going on. Or the popup is actually not completely blank but the input fields are empty ? That's strange too because then why would the label be translated ? Or you mean only the input field for the custom text is blank in the translation popup ?

Hi Nicolas,

Making a translation key was the solution.
I did not know that this was possible.
Thanks a lot!

Best Regards,
Theo
