Redirect from add to cart popup issue

That's because you have the "redirect to checkout" setting set to "on success". So if the add to cart is successful, the system will redirect automatically to the checkout after displaying the popup. You want to turn that off.

Regarding the HTML code, it doesn't support displaying a popup and can only redirect to the checkout.
If you want to have an add to cart button with the popup in an article, you need to use a content tag instead:

What do you mean ?
If you can copy / paste the HTML of the add to cart button, why can't you copy / paste the content tag for the product with the correct parameters ?
Something like: {product}ID|cart{/product}
where ID is to be replaced by the id of the product.
