Having issues with Fed Ex & UPS plugins

Hello Hikashoppers,

I've been building an online cart for a company that has special shipping requirements. Currently they would like all orders that are 75 lbs. and below to ship through UPS ground to go to individual customers and all orders over 75 lbs to be shipped via Fed Ex LTL. The client has a rate setup through LTL and we've been having some difficultly getting the cart to divide the shipping between the two methods. Right now when processing orders it says that 'No shipping method is found' though both the Fed Ex and UPS plugins are published and enabled. If we disable the Fed Ex and UPS plugins we can use the manual shipping and we can divide the orders up, but the rates are based on the percentages that are supplied within the manual shipping plug and doesn't take advantage of the UPS and Fed Ex account numbers when processing the information.

We are in the process of going through the php files from the clients old website (because they had the same set up with their shipping with the UPS and Fed Ex sorting properly) and figuring out how it was setup and modernizing it for the current hikashop Fed Ex plugin, since it was configured last in 2006. It seems that Fed Ex has had some API changes in the last several years.

I've read through many of the other shipping threads here to see if anyone has tried to do something similar and haven't had any luck, so I'm turning to the internet. HALP

Hi,
Did you tried to use the shipping restrictions options like Minimum/Maximum weight through your UPS/FedEx configuration screen ?

The only options that we've found in the UPS and Fed Ex plugins are the 'weight approximation' fields which add a percentage to the price. We tried using the manual shipping options to create a dummy UPS and Fed Ex gate, where if it fit certain weight requirements it would use that particular plugin, but it just adds another option rather than acting as a gate to choose shipping options.

One of our coders has gotten far enough to get the proper shipping to show up now, our final hang up is that the UP option doesn't disappear once the weight goes over 75 lbs. If we can figure out how to do that, we can put the project to rest.

You can use the manual shipping methods to have a user selection of the shipping methods but also to display only the relevant ones based on the restrictions that you configure in them. You can use the "restrictions" area for that in the options of the plugin.

I might be misunderstanding, but we don't want the customer to have the option to select which shipping option they get, but to have it select for them based on the weight. I've looked in the restrictions for the manual shipping and only saw the ability to restrict by zones. I did see the minimum and maximum weight restrictions, and I have attached the images of how I set all these plugins up. Perhaps there's something here that I'm missing.

If you have only two manual shipping method one with weight restrictions being 0 to 75 and another being 75 to 50000, the only time you would see both of them on the checkout would be for a weight of 75 exactly.
Otherwise, the system will filter out the one which doesn't match the total weight of the products in the cart.
