Hi

Sorry, this is going to be a long one I am afraid. Please grab a cuppa tea / coffee or a beer before you start to read.

I have been trying to setup the manual shipping plugin for selling Art prints for a customer. Below are the available data and criteria.

Different sizes and attributes of arts:
Tube for A3 Prints:
Package size - L: 320mm H: 152mm
Package weight - 750g

Tube for A2 Prints:
Package size - L: 450mm H: 152mm
Package weight - 950g

Tube for A1 Prints:
Package size - L: 620mm H: 120mm
Package weight - 1350g

Royal Mail's Price & Weight Range (UK Mainland Only):
A3 Tubes: 1g to 2 Kg - £12.50
A2 Tubes: 1g to 20 Kg - £14.50
A1 Tubes: 1g to 30 Kg - £17.50

Royal Mail's Price & Weight Range (Outside UK):
A3 Tubes: 1g to 2 Kg - £17.50
A2 Tubes: 1g to 20 Kg - £24.50
A1 Tubes: 1g to 30 Kg - £27.50

Ordering Scenario:
Anyone can order multiple arts of the same size or different sizes

Requirements:
The prints will be sent in PVC tubes of three different sizes depending on the print size.
Maximum of 3 prints of the same size can be sent in any one tube for the price of one tube's shipping cost.

Solutions tried:
I have tried setting up the shipping plugin by just the weight - Works fine for single item but, not for multiple prints of same size
I have tried setting up the shipping plugin by just the volume - Works fine for single item but, not for multiple prints of same size
I have attached a few screenshots of the settings for your reference. Please let me know if you need any further information.

Hi,

Shipping methods apply to the whole order.
So if you want to be able to ship multiple products, you need to create more shipping methods with weight/volume restrictions for 2 products, for 3 products, etc.

I would recommend however a different approach, especially since it doesn't seem that you have a lot of products on sale:
Create two shipping methods, one for UK, one for the rest, and make sure that the "shipping price per product" option is turned on. Then, edit each product and under the "shipping prices" area, enter the shipping price for that product for your two shipping methods and that's it.

Thanks for your response Nicolas.

I tried your simple recommended solution but its driving me nuts.

  1. When I select A3 size, everything works well until I select more than 3 quantity (Maximum qty is set to 3 in shipping plugin).

  • When I select A2 size, no shipping method shows up.

  • When I select A1 size, the shipping cost is the total of custom price and regular price (image attached)

  • It shows both the UK and international shipping - is there a way to automatically filter it according to the country in the address
  • When I click Cart menu item at the bottom of the page, the cart doesnt show checkout button - it will be great if it did.

    Hi,
    1. Can you show me how did you set your 2 manual shipping methods through some screenshots ?

    2. You'll be able to automatically filter your shipping methods according to the country in your customers shipping address by using the "Zone" restriction option through your shipping method configuration screen.

    3.

When I click Cart menu item at the bottom of the page, the cart doesnt show checkout button - it will be great if it did.

Can you tell me how do you exactly want your cart to show through some screenshots so that I can understand it ?

    Thanks.

    Hello Mohamed

    1. Below are the screenshots of the manual shipping configurations

    2. Zone restriction - I have restricted one method for UK Zone and no restriction for the International delivery

    3. I will get back to you on this later.

    Hi,
Regarding your Outside UK mainland shipping method, note that the best solution will be to create a shipping zone through "Hikashop->System->Zones" and include in it all zones, but not UK, then you'll just have to use that shipping zone through the zone option of your shipping method.

Thats fantastic. Mohamed. Shipping zone issue is solved now. I didn't even know that New Zones could be created. Well, now I do.

Any update on the shipping method please? It is quite urgent.

Ok, so you want different prices and also weight restrictions regarding the product ?

    Ok,
    1. If you don't want the "The cart items combined quantity is too high for all the possible shipping methods" you should unset the "maximum quantity" option of your shipping method
    2. Regarding the A2 size product, you should unset the "Minimum quantity" option of 4

    Hello Mohamed

    Thanks for your reply.

    1. The reason for maximum quantity set as 3 is because, only 3 arts can be sent for that price. If I remove that restriction, it will be the same cost for shipping even if someone ordered 10 arts.
    2. I have removed the maximum quatity 4 in A1, A2 and A3 configuration buts its still the same.

Do you need access to the backend?

Sure, it will probably help me to understand your issue and how did you configured your shipping methods.

    Hi,
I've just done some tests through your website, and :
    1. If you want for example : A1 Tubes: 1g to 30 Kg - £17.50 ==> you'll have to set the £17.50 through the "Fee" column of your product shipping prices tab.
    2. If you want to restrict your A1 variants and only ship orders with A1 variants with a weight within 1g to 30 Kg and if you want at the same time to restrict your A2 variants and only ship orders with A2 variants with a weight within 1g to 20 Kg, it will only work if you have order with just A2 variants or A3 variants, if not, I don't think that you can do that without using some custom code through the manual shipping method plugin, but it will require some development skills.

How do you exactly want to restrict the product quantity that you'll have to ship ?

Sorry, there was too much delay in getting a solution for this problem. So, I have asked the customer to include shipping cost in the product price itself. Embarrassing but, it was quite urgent.

    Thanks for your help anyways.
