Auspost Calculator & Price Per Product

I cannot find any adjustment using price per product in association with the Auspost calculator, that 'takes'
ie most products use the auspost calculator - works fine
but some products are not shipped - thus have no freight
so - I have tried to adjust this using the price per product override

1. have made sure the product has no weight or dimensions
2. have made a minimum quantity of "1"
3. the product itself costs $1, so....
4. so a price of $1 is set in the shipping price override field (I assume this column is to do with what the total of the order is - but the documentation is unclear on what this means)
5. a fee of $0 - ie no fee charged for shipping 1 of this product when the price is $1

but still calculates and shows the auspost figures on checkout as if it were a freight / weighted order?
