FedEx Shipping Question

Just a general question about shipping, particularly about FedEx. Everything is working just fine in test environment. I signed up for the Test API keys and such thru FedEx web services, and everything is working on my website as expected.

I am now in the stages of moving to production. FedEx has you move from their test API keys to a production key. In order to do this, they are also asking for a credit card (stated that it is required for billing purposes)

My question is that I am only using FedEx for rate services, so I am unclear why or if I need to concern my self with them wanting this information.

Am I correct that no funds are transferred directly to FedEx (or any invoices created) that they would bill me for? I am just using the rate service to obtain the proper shipping costs, but those funds go to me thru my payment gateway correct?

I am just a little confused and was thrown off a bit by their request for this. I dont want any funds being directly transferred to them or any bills generated... I am going to deliver the packages myself thru Fedex. I just need the application to correctly give the rate needed.

If anyone out there has had experience with FedEx or how this works with their production APIs and their accounts & billing, I would greatly appreciate some insight.

Thanks!

Hi,

I don't think that they will take any money. It's probably used for when you use their labeling API or collect on delivery system.
In fact, you should even be able to stay in "stage mode" to get the rates since it doesn't change anything for you that it uses the live mode or not. The rates returned by FedEx will still be the same.

I called FedEx Web Services support to confirm this, and they did. the only way a CC will get billed is if a shipping label is printed and scanned. Not sure about leaving the test APIs in there, There may be an expiration date on those and that might cause some problems down the road. hopefully this will help someone else, Thanks!

Hi,

The issue for me is that I am using test credentials to send requests from your HikaShop module to Fedex production environment. So I don't receive valid reply.
I contact Fedex that says to ask how to change the endpoint in your module to stay in test mode.

Thank's for your help.

Hello,

The solution will probably be to directly retrieve their API URL in test mode, and then direct change it through the FedEx plugin.

I contact Fedex that says to ask how to change the endpoint in your module to stay in test mode.

Also, note that the best solution will be to directly ask them a production mode credentials, to properly use that plugin.

Best regards,

Do you mean that Fedex plugin can't work currently in test mode ?

If so I'll ask production credentials from Fedex.

Thank's

Hi,

The plugin is indeed made to work in production mode since that doesn't change anything regarding the calculations and it necessary anyway in the end.
