More shipping methods....pls. help!! :(

Hello,

first of all the shop-component is one of the greatest things for joomla I've ever seen. I love it. But I have one issue I can't fix.
It's the fallowing:
All of my articles can be shipped by normal delivery. But I have also some articles who can be shipped by express delivery if it is needed by the customer. (This is not possible with all items - only with about 10%).
So I set up two shipping methods. A normal one and an express-method.
I want the customer to be able to choose the express-method if it is available.
The problem is when I have two (or more) articles in the cart.
I have normal shipping costs of 3,50 € and 14,90 € for an express item.
If I have a normal and a express item in the cart the system calculates shipping costs of 29,80 € at checkout. (2x express-shipping??)
Normal it should be like that:

Product 1 20€ 3,50€ Shipping
Product 2 30€ 3,50€ Shipping
Product 3 30€ 14,90€ Express Shipping

---

80€ + 21,90€ = TOTAL 101,90€

Pls help me. I can't find out where the problem is.

Hi Marc,

I'm not sure I get your problem. If you have 2 products, one express and one normal, the price should be 21.90, but do you really want your customers to pay the shipping fees for each product? If so, make sure you enabled the "price per product" option of your shipping methods.

Then, you can play with the restrictions to attach a shipping method only to certain product (I don't know how you did that so far). Please also post a screenshot of your shipping methods configuration so we can help you with that

yes, i'm sure I want to charge the shipping fees for each product. The problem is that my supplier charges the shipping fees for each product because the delivery date for each product varies.
I tried the "price per product option" but then the problem is the shipping-module adds the shipping fees of the last added product 2 times if I have 2 products in the cart (and 3 times if I have 3 products.... a.s.o.) as you can see at the 4 screenshots.

The solution will be to :
- Use the "Use price per product" option of your 2 shipping methods configuration page
- Go to your products configuration page
- Block or set a shipping price regarding the shipping method through the "Shipping prices" tab of your product configuration page

For example, if you want a product to be only shipped by the "Express shipping" you'll have to :
- Block the "Standard shipping method"
- Set a price (14,90€) for the "Express shipping"

but that's not really what I need.
I want the customer to be able to choose between one of this two shipping methods IF AVAILABLE. If not everything will be charged as "normal" shipping (3,50).
If there are more items in the cart (to example 1 item which can be shipped only standardly (A) and one other item for which Express shipping is available ( but the customer wants it to be sent standardly. ALL items shall be sent by the standard shipping method.

IF the customer has choosen express shipping on item ( 3,50 (for Item (A) AND 13,90 for ITEM ( shall be charged.

If the customer has more express items and more standard items in the cart only 17,40 (3,50 + 13,90) shall be charged.

Ok, then you'll just have to create a "normal" manual shipping method so that your customer will be able to choose which shipping method they want to use.

OR .... the easiest way can be to allow only 1 article per order. That would also be an option for me. Is that possible?

Yes. In the "Checkout" tab of the configuration you can set the option "Maximum number of items in the cart" for that.
