How to set up shipping price per product - Europe

Hope somebody can help me with this as I haven't been able to find a tutorial on it. I'm currently revamping my website and will be using Hikashop for the first time (I'm a retailer and not a developer so not very technical). I use Hikashop Business 2.3.0 and Joomla 2.5.14.

I need some step by step guidance on how to set up my shipping method.

It needs to be priced per product in 2 bands - for example for the UK where I'm based - product weight up to 8kg: £9.95, above 8 kg: £14.95.
For the UK, I would also ideally like to set up 2 higher rates for remote areas such as Highlands and Islands postcodes (our products are big and attract postage surcharges for this).

I also sell across Europe, so need to know the process of setting up zones e.g. France, Germany and Denmark could be in the same zone or Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg in another zone. Again, each will have 2 price bands, depending on product weight e.g. up to 8kg: £15.95, above 8kg: £24.95. Exact rates will vary from zone to zone.

Sorry, normally I can figure these things out, but it's just not clear to me how I go about setting all of this up.

Thanks,
John

Hi,

First, to create shipping zones grouping the countries together, you can go in the menu System>zones, create a new one of the type shipping zone, and select the countries you want in the zone as sub zones.
Then, I would recommend to create two warehouses via the menu Products>Warehouses and have each product set to one or the other based on whether they are more than 8kg or less.
Then, create one shipping method for each zone for each warehouse (you can set the warehouse and zone in the "restrictions" area of the shipping method options screen) and turn on the "Use price per product" option and fill the "Price per product" field of each shipping method with the shipping price you want for the products of that warehouse.
It should then work like you want.

Thank you for your reply - I'm going to try and work through that now - can you explain a bit more (step by step), how I handle different shipping prices for particular postcodes within the UK, such a Northern Ireland or Scottish Highlands and Islands where rates may be different for large items?

Hi,

You will have to create many shipping methods with the options "price per product" enabled, and restrict all these shipping methods on postcodes and weight.

Ex:
Shipping methods:

Northern Ireland - < 8kg
Northern Ireland - > 8kg < 16kg
Northern Ireland - > 16kg
Scottish Highlands - < 8kg
Scottish Highlands - > 8kg < 16kg
Scottish Highlands - > 16kg
Islands - < 8kg
Islands - > 8kg < 16kg
Islands - > 16kg

Then, in the product edition page, set a price per shipping methods.
