Can someone outline a method in which I can charge a flat rate on shipping up to $75, and anything over that amount is free shipping. May not be possible, but the client requested it.

Hi,

It's quite easy to do.
You go in the menu System>Shipping methods, you create two new ones of the type hikashop manual shipping methods. For the first one you set your flate rate in the price field and 75 in the "maximum price" restriction field, and for the second one, you set 75.01 in the "minimum price" restriction field.
The system will then display the appropriate shipping method based on the total amount of the cart during the checkout.

Nicolas, Is it also possible to first have a range of shipping options based on the weight of the entire order and next once a minimum order amount is reached, shipping is free of charge?
I have tried creating a manual shipping option with restriction minimum amount €250 but when checking out it still looks at the weight of the order.
Please see print screen for current set-up.

Regards,
Jos

NOTE: I just found-out how to do this: add on all shipping options a maximum value and that does the trick.

Hi, I would like to implement a similar solution: up to 6 items: shipping cost, more than 6: free. When a customer puts an item in his cart, I would like to have a pop-up showing how many more items to put in the basket until shipment is free. This should only be shon when customer address is domestic or if he is not yet logged in.

Is this possible? I have seen several shops offering something similar.

Hi,

We actually don't have options for that, but it's possible by making a little plugin for that.
Based on the function "onAfterCartUpdate()" check the content of the cart, and depending on the number of items display a message in a popup or via the Joomla messsage system.

Here is some documentation for that:
