Hello,

I have the following question:
People can buy books in our store. Books are usually free shipping. There is one big international book that's not free of charge. Can I somehow configure that the shipping method "international book" is automatically chosen if someone hat that product in his shopping basket?
The same problem occurs, when people choose other products that are no books. They choose "book shipping" instead of "normal" shipping, because it's free of charge. We always need to change the orders afterwards.
It there a way to link certain products to shipping methods?

Thanks for any help or hints.
Vanessa

Hi,

Yes. Create several warehouses via the menu System>Warehouses, one per type of shipping method.
Then, select the warehouse for which the shipping method should be used when you edit your shipping methods via the menu System>Shipping methods.
And finally, select the warehouse of each product when you edit them.
That way, the checkout will group the products per warehouse during the checkout and will apply the shipping method corresponding to the group of products.

I've tested this and it shows the following behaviour:

LIEFERMETHODE (Shipping Method)
Versandinformationen (Shipping Info)
Alpakahalfter: blau M (Normal Product)
DHL Paket 5,00 € (Normal Shipping)
Versandinformationen (Shipping Info - second time?)
Alpakas und Lamas - die Nutzung domestizierter Neuweltkameliden (Book)
Büchersendung Kostenlose Lieferung (Free Shipping for Books)

There should be a rule "if the order only has books - shipping is free. If the order has at least ONE no-free-shipping-item, the whole order is not free."
The problem is, that orders over 100€ need to be free not caring what products you order. With the actual behaviour, you would need to buy "normal" products for more than 100€, regardless if you already bought books for 50€... The "now it's completely free of charge" should always be calculated on the whole order-sum...

How can I achieve this?
Thanks for the help!

Hello,

The problem is, that orders over 100€ need to be free not caring what products you order

In that case instead of using warehouses, the solution will be to :
- Use the "Use price per product" option of your shipping method configuration page
- Go to your product configuration page

- Set a shipping price / fee for your product through the "Shipping prices" tab of your product configuration page
AND
- Block the shipping methods that you don't want to use.

Hello everybody,

I need to get back to my question again.
We now have exactly the problem I've outlined.

It's still the following:
if someone buys only books, the order is free shipping.
If someone buys only "normal" products for less than 100€, there is a shipping charge. Higher thann 100e there is free shipping.
If someone buys BOTH (books and normal products), the behaviour for the WHOLE order should be the same as if the customer had bought only "normal" products. (Meaning < 100€ = shipping costs, >100€ shipping is free).

I understood that this could be achieved through adding a fixed shipping price to each product.
My question is: Do the shipping prices add/cumulate? It should always be "choose highest shipping price". This is what the documentation sais: ( www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/1...ing-manual-form.html )

... a fixed shipping price for each product added to the cart which will be summed up and added to the main price of the shipping method.

This is NOT what we need. Shipping must always be the same price, regardless if one or 10 products are ordered, as long as the final price for the order is lower than 100€! Higher than 100€ shipping must always be free.

Thanks for helping me sorting this out.
Kind regards,
Vanessa

Hello Vanessa,

Do the shipping prices add/cumulate?

If you use the "price per product" the price will be cumulative, in your case the solution will be to create :
- 2 warehouses
One for your normal books with free shipping
One for big international books with a shipping price for [0 - 100] € and free shipping starting 100€
- 3 shipping methods
One free shipping method for normal books and with the first warehouse.
One shipping method with a fixed price, with the second warehouse, and with a "maximum price" of 100 €
One free shipping method with the second warehouse, and with a "minimum price" of 100€
