CanadaPost Plugin- 2 packages, but charges only 1

-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.0 Business
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.1

I have configured my Canada Post shipping profile to have a box that can hold 4 products (I have set the dimensions and weight of the box, as well as the max weight in the Canada Post shipping profile, not in HikaShop).

In HikaShop, I have configured the Canada Post plugin to group packages. Each product has dimensions of 20cm x 16cm x 11cm, and variable weight (between 250g to 520g).

When I put 5 products in the cart, and do the checkout process, the shipping options show up, indicate that it is 2 packages, but only charges the price of 1 package. If I add 9 products, 3 packages is indicated, and still, only 1 is charged. So the actual grouping of the products is working

What am I missing so that the 2nd (or 3rd, 4th,... ) package gets charged to the customer at checkout?

Thanks!
Stephanie

Hello Stephanie,

1.

I have configured my Canada Post shipping profile to have a box that can hold 4 products (I have set the dimensions and weight of the box, as well as the max weight in the Canada Post shipping profile, not in HikaShop).

I don't think that using the option of your Canada Post configuration space will affect the rates that will be returned from the Canada Post platform.
The number of package will be defined by the Hikashop Canada Post shipping plugin regarding :
- Your product dimensions/weight
- Canada Post dimensions/weight limits.

2.

What am I missing so that the 2nd (or 3rd, 4th,... ) package gets charged to the customer at checkout?

In that case your products will be grouped into 2 packages, and the rates to ship both products is the value of the shipping methods available for your order. So their won't be any 3rd or 4th package.

Hello-
I think my question was not clear... So I will try again.

This is what I am trying to accomplish:
1) The shop will be putting up to 4 products per package for shipping. (EX: 1-4 products = 1 package, 5-8 products = 2 packages, 9-12 products = 3 packages, and so on)
2) The package is a box of fixed dimensions, having a specific weight of its own, and the products have varying weights. These product weights have been entered for each product in HikaShop.
3) The configuration of the Hikashop Canada Post plugin does NOT allow me to enter grouping information when "Group packages" is set to YES (see image: Capture-group-packages-no-additional-settings.jpg) even though the tutorial on your website shown here does (see screen shot: Capture-tutorial-canada-post-group.jpg).
4) A box with the specific dimensions (32.7 cm x 23.2cm x 21.6cm ) and weight (0.175kg) has been added to the Canada Post settings since I could not set the grouping specifications in HikaShop. Each product has dimensions specified as well (20cm x 16cm x 11 cm)

In reference to my example given in my 1st post for 5 products (see image: Capture-2-packages-unit-price), the Canada Post plugin gives a price of $14.09, and indicates that 2 packages are required.
NOTE: when only 1 product is put in the basket, I get a shipping price of $14.09 also, and no indication of the number of packages. (see image: Capture-1-product-shipping-price.jpg)

You answered me:

your products will be grouped into 2 packages, and the rates to ship both products is the value of the shipping methods available for your order.

Are you saying that the shipping price shown (in my case $14.09) is the price that Canada Post is calculating for the total number of packages?
I test with 100 products in my cart, and the Canada Post plugin is still showing 14.09$, and saying 26 packages. This seems wrong:
1) I do not think that 14.09$ for shipping 26 packages is the correct Canada Post rate. If the price shown is supposed to be for all packages, how do I fix it to ensure that the price is actually taking into consideration ALL packages?
2) Also: 100 products should group into 25 packages, not 26, so I need to fix this as well. (looks like something is not properly set to group packages properly...!)

Any help or guidance that can be offered in getting this resolved would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Stephanie

Hello,
1. 2.
As I said :

The number of package will be defined by the Hikashop Canada Post shipping plugin regarding :
- Your product dimensions/weight
- Canada Post dimensions/weight limits.

If you exactly want it to work like that, the solution will be to directly modify the code of the Canada post shipping plugin, but some development skills will be required.
3.
You're right, we'll update the Canada Post as soon as possible, these options were removed after the creation of a new group package algorithm which was avoiding customers of having issues with Canada Post package weight/size restrictions.

Can you give me a temporary Back-end and FTP access to your website so that I can directly test it ?
You can send it through our contact form : www.hikashop.com/support/contact-us.html
Thanks.

Hi Mohamed-
I was wondering if it was possible for you to give me an approximate time frame for this issue.

I would like to let my customer know what is going on with the online shop

Until we get this issue resolved, I would like to propose to my customer that we set a fixed price for shipping (using manual shipping plugin).

Can I add in these additional manual shipping methods while you are testing the Canada Post plugin issue?

Thanks!

Hi,

HikaShop 2.6.1 is currently under tests ; but with this period of "festivities" ; part of the team is taking some rest.
We wanted to release HikaShop 2.6.1 before the end of the year but we prefer to wait a little longer in order to perform that release in the best conditions.

By the way, do not send me private message, use the "contact us" form instead.

Hello,
I have updated my HikaShop to version 2.6.1, but there is no changes at all that I can see to the CanadaPost plugin, as was promised by Mohamed:

It was very disappointing to find that the issue is still present.
What other options are available to me to try to get this working for my customer? It's been close to 2 months that I've been waiting for a solution.
I really wish that the plugin would charge total shipping for the number of packages it says are needed, rather than just the shipping price for 1 package...
Any help / support is greatly appreciated.

Hello

That minor patch wasn't added to the change log of the Hikashop 2.6.1 release, but we actually fixed the issue that we had with the calculation of the number of package when the "group package" option was enabled, so there WAS changes.

I really wish that the plugin would charge total shipping for the number of packages it says are needed, rather than just the shipping price for 1 package...

The Canada Post shipping services already have defined shipping limits, and the Group package is optimized to group the maximum number of products into packages regarding your order products dimensions/weight. That's why we decided to not add again the "Dimensions and Weight of Grouped packages " option, which will prevent you to get efficient results with the "Group package" option and will also lead customers to some Canada post package dimensions/weight error if they don't set these options correctly.

Regarding the documentations of the Canada Post plugin, I just updated it, it was my fault that the "Dimensions and Weight of Grouped packages " was displayed, I should have updated it sooner.

Note that if you REALLY want the "Dimensions and Weight of Grouped packages" option, I can help you to get it but I don't advice you to use that kind of option.

Regarding the pricing issue can you test it with that last Canada post version ?
