USPS not calculating correctly since 2.6.0

Hello - I am having trouble with my USPS shipping prices. This problem started with version 2.6.0. (I am still using 2.5 on my main website because of this problem - I am exploring the problem only on my testing site, where I have downloaded 2.6.1).

Here is the situation: I have a small publishing company. We sell books that weight 1 lb 15 oz. We use media mail for shipping, and including our handling fee, shipping for 1 book is $6.55. This all works fine in both he 2.5 versions and the 2.6 versions.

When we enter 2 books, the weight goes up and the shipping goes up just as it should ($7.55). No problems in either version. Same for 3 books ($8.55)

BUT, when we enter 4 books, the shipping on version 2.6.x goes from 8.55 (which is should be) back down to $6.55 - the same as the shipping price for one book. On version 2.5.x, the shipping goes up incrementally, as it should.

Then, when we enter a 5th book, the shipping on 2.6.x goes to 7.55 - the same for 2 books. Version 2.5.x performs appropriately, increasing the shipping price incrementally.

Then it gets really fun. If we enter at 6th book, the shipping on 2.6.x drops to $6.05 - be low the price for shipping even a single book. Version 2.5.x performs appropriately.

After that, I get bored of adding additional books because I can tell that something is wrong - either in the weight calculation within the code or within the shipping plug-in itself.

I have stayed with 2.5.x, which works fine for me, but at some point, it would be nice to upgrade to 2.6.x, but I can't do that until the shipping is fixed.

Can you offer any suggestions for me? Was there a setting in 2.6.x that I didn't notice that would cause it to change the shipping costs like this (and end up with them being lower than the price of a single book when I hit a certain level?)

I just tested it on my end and i wasn't able to reproduce it, can you show me some screenshots of how you configured your shipping method and the products weight/dimensions that are on your cart ?

FYI, the setup between my 2.5.x system (live) and my 2.6.x system (testing) is the same in terms of the shipping methods and product weights, etc... It's just that one works and the other one doesn't.

I'm wondering if it would be possible for me to just set you up with a login to my test site (which has 2.6.1 on it) so you can see exactly what I have set up? If that's okay, please let me know, and I'll send the login information by email. That will give you more info than the screenshots.
