Hello,
I have USPS plugin working and would like to know how I can get my tracking numbers to be included on the emails to the clients. I read through all of the documents on the plugin and didn't find this info so I'm sorry if i missed it somewhere. Thanks.

Hi,

It's not really related to the plugin.
You can create a custom field of the table "order" and of the type "link" via the menu Display>Custom fields.
Then, when you edit and order as you ship it, edit the additional information of the order and enter such text in the custom field you created:

TRACK:http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInternetWeb/InterLabelInquiry.do?origTrackNum=TRACK
where you replace TRACK by the tracking number.

If you want something more automated, look into the ShipStation integration for HikaShop. ShipStation can automatically send both branded shipment notices and delivery emails to your customers, automatically updates HikaShop order status and inserts the tracking code in the information area for the order, and quite a bit more.

Plus there's an awesome branded ShipStation tracking page for USA shipments. The page is partially customizable. For example, you can add your own business logo, change the primary color scheme, add some social media and contact info etc. It's not a fully custom page, but it's still worlds away from what most companies do, which is sending customers to generic UPS or FedEx tracking pages.

An example is online at the link below. This was for a real shipment I received a couple of weeks ago while visiting Miami.

track.shipstation.com/o/f/7G3zQ36s0EhaZi...h?t=786008593452&c=4

It's a very powerful branding message for your eCommerce store. The page display updates as the shipped item is in transit. Try playing with it, like hovering over the location dots. If the customer wants to get the full scoop from the carrier, there's always still a link to the carrier tracking page too.

The HikaShop team worked with Polished Geek earlier this year to make several improvements to the ShipStation integration plugin for one of our client projects. It's a really nice system and our client loves it. It's an excellent way to improve your shipping related communication with your customers, integrated with your HikaShop store.

Thanks very much!
I've got shipstation set up... how does the tracking number integrate into the customer emails/ notifications? Is there something I need to do as suggested with the Display>Custom Fields of the previous post?

You should configure it so the shipping emails go out from ShipStation, not HikaShop. Then they can include your custom branded tracking page. It's all in the ShipStation configuration setup. Don't forgot to turn off your HikaShop shipping notifications in the plugin like this.

Hello,

Thanks PolishedGeek.

ShipStation is indeed a good solution for tracking.
And for details about the set-up ; there is also an HikaShop documentation page :
