Restrict Item by State

Hi, I have an item that can not be sold in certain states of Australia because fishing laws are different state by state.

What I need is for that item not to show any shipping if a state is selected at checkout where I can't sell that item. There will naturally be warnings on that item notifying them that the items is not for sale in that state but it would be good to have that final restriction on the product.

Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

That's easy to do:
- Make sure that you have configured different shipping methods for the different groups of states.
- Turn on the "shipping price per product" setting of the shipping methods.
- In each product, you'll now have a "shipping prices" section. Click on the + button for the shipping methods you want to block, check the "block" checkbox and save the product.
The checkout will then automatically remove these blocked shipping methods when the product is in the cart, and if no shipping method is left, it will display an appropriate error message.
