Order accepted when no shipping available for zone

Hi
We have a product that can only be shipped to the UK so there is a zone restriction set up for it's shipping method. If I log in as a customer from France and try to order the product I get the warning:
Sorry, no shipping method available for your delivery address
This is exactly how I want it to work but if I add a second product to the order it is accepted and I can pay for it and am not charged postage for any products outside the zone.

Is there a way of preventing this?

Hi,

Are you sure that you don't have another shipping method without a zone restriction with some minimum weight or minimum quantity or minimum price ? In such case, it wouldn't appear when the products' weight / quantity / price is under that limit, but it would above, regardless of the zone of the user ?
This is what I guess is happening.

If not please, provide a screenshot of your listing of shipping methods and precise instructions to reproduce the problem on your website frontend.

All the shipping methods have zones set but after running more tests it appears to occur when the products come from different warehouses.

I will investigate more.

I have set up a test site with 2 warehouses and each warehouse has a shipping method with a UK zone restriction. I have added 2 products, one supplied from warehouse 1 and the other from warehouse 2.

Warehouse 1
- Shipping 1 (UK only)

Warehouse 2
- Shipping 2 (UK only)

Product 1 (from Warehouse 1)
Product 2 (from Warehouse 2)

I placed an order from an address in France for Product 1 and received the 'No shipping methods available for your location' warning and couldn't proceed. I repeated this for Product 2 with the same result.

I then placed an order from an address in France for Product 1 and Product 2 and the order was accepted without warnings and no shipping fees and I could checkout.

I just tested it on your website and it was working fine, I couldn't complete my order with a shipping address in France, even with your french demo account. Can you give me step by step Instruction to reproduce that issue ? Thank you.

Hmm, strange it's working for me as well now!

So I have changed the zone of Product 1 to Europe and now if I order from a French address...

  • If I order Product 1 the order is accepted
  • If I order Product 2 tthe order fails with 'no shipping method'
  • If I order both products there is a note to say 'No shipping method found for the warehouse' but the order is accepted

Well, It seems to be working fine as your European product can be shipped to France, but not the UK one. However the fact that you can complete your even with the fact that one product, don't have any shipping method is weird.

We'll try to reproduce it on our end to properly check and debug it, thank you for your feedback !

Hi Mohamed

That appears to be working OK now. I will add some css to make the message stand out more otherwise I think it could be missed.

A suggestion for a future release might be to put the message in with the product info so that it is obvious which products can't be shipped.
