Quick question re the new EU VAT changes: some countries have multiple VAT rates covering digital goods, e.g. Italy is 22% on ebooks without an ISBN but only 4% on ebooks with an ISBN. The tax_europe_electronic_goods plugin only has one rate for Italy (22%). Is it possible to allow for such VAT rate variations within HikaShop please as my ebooks are mainly with ISBN but some are without.

Nicolas and Jerome can better answer the ins and outs of how to use the native electronic goods plugin. But I wanted to mention in this thread that for more complex tax rules automation, Polished Geek has developed a HikaShop AvaTax service integration plugin. The plugin is going through the final certification approval process with Avalara now. Once the certification is complete, we'll be sharing more information for Nicolas to post on the blog and hopefully in the docs area. I wanted to hold off on that until we had final certification approval.

By the way, the plugin will be completely free to download. You only pay for the AvaTax service based on usage, and that can handle these types of more complicated EU VAT rules.

Thank you Deb, that's useful to know. I currently sell via Amazon Kindle but am exploring other options. :)

Hi,

Yes, that's possible.
Just create a new tax rate with the rate you want (4%) and a new tax category "books with ISBN" and create new tax rules for that tax category in order to link the tax category with the different tax rates you want to apply to it based on the location of the customer and then select that tax category in the options of the products with the ISBN and that will do it.
