-- HikaShop version -- : 2.4.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.0
-- PHP version -- : 5.3.10
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Google Chrome Version 41.0.2272.89

Looking for a local support group in California.

I am having issues using the TaxCloud plugin for HikaShop and am looking for any local support.

Since California is not a state that taxes shipping, the calculated tax is always zero. But that also creates a $0 tax line that is displayed on the order details and emails to the customer. Is anyone else seeing this?

It would help me to know if I am the only experiencing this.

Thanks,

Ann Espinosa

As I suspected. HikaShop is not an eCommerce solution in the United States. I will have to keep that in mind if my other business associates in the Silicon Valley are looking for a Joomla eCommerce Extension.

I have asked for help from HikaShop support over the past 2 or 3 months, through the "forum" and directly, but nothing!

I have contacted TaxCloud and they are very interested in my issue and concern since HikaShop was just recently validated as a partner.

Here are my threads (my bad for thinking if I created more Topics I would get some support):

Thanks.

HikaShop is a great eCommerce product for USA businesses, it just seems that you have some particular issues that require a paid developer to help you finish your site. You need someone who can help you with properly configuring TaxCloud itself, verify all of the HikaShop settings, customize your emails, etc. to provide the specific result you need. It really goes beyond software support to ask the HikaShop team to solve all of that for you.

If you are frustrated with TaxCloud but still want automated tax calculation for HikaShop, you could also consider AvaTax. We have built an AvaTax globally certified plugin for HikaShop, including partial and paid return handling. The plugin is free, but you do need to pay a fee to Avalara to use AvaTax each month. So if you want to stay with a free solution, then your two choices for tax calculation in HikaShop are to use the built in tax system or TaxCloud.

I know taxes are vitally important to get right before you launch your site, so it's frustrating if it takes a while to get everything working smoothly. Hiring an expert to help you get past this point will alleviate that frustration and let you focus on your business instead of trying to master the intricacies of configuring taxes.

Hi,

Having a 0% tax is normal since the TaxCloud web service tell the plugin that there is a tax of 0%. If TaxCloud was not returning any tax at all (and not a tax a 0%) then the 0% tax wouldn't be added by the TaxCloud plugin in HikaShop.
We're doing our best to support everyone as much as possible but this is not really a bug (just that you would prefer a different display, so it's more of a customization issue) and on top of that, we developed the TaxCloud plugin for free for everyone and we don't earn anything out of it.

I've actually had a look at that and created a patch to not display the 0% tax:
