Hi,

our customer is located in the EU, sells products worldwide and got the following situation:

A customer from outside the EU orders a product, and enters a delivery address in the EU.
In such a case we have to charge the VAT of our country. Now Hikahsop only has the option to charge the VAT or not based on either the invoice address or the delivery address.

Is it somehow possible to apply the tax in such cases? And of course to not apply taxes if EU member orders and want delivery outside of the EU?

OK I try to explain the problem better:

If someone from outside the EU places an order (tax free), and the delivery address is also outside the EU (tax free), we do not have to charge VAT.
But if someone from outside the EU places an order (tax free), and enters a delivery address inside the EU (not tax free), we have to charge VAT.

I've set the "Type of of address used for tax" to billing.

We have tried it with "Type of of address used for tax" set to delivery, but then we had an issue when an european company with a valid VAT-Id orders (tax free), and enters a private person as delivery address (not tax free).

Hi,

As far as I understand, you should always base yourself on the shipping address to charge taxes if you're shipping the goods you're selling. If an European company with a VAT id orders and enters a private person address as delivery address, it should still be taxed. That's what our accountant explained us.
So in your case, you're supposed to set this option to "shipping".

If nevertheless you want to change the way the system works, it's possible but require modifications to the algorithm calculating the taxes in the file administrator/components/com_hikashop/classes/currency.php and will require the help of a PHP developer if you're not one yourself.
