Quick Discounts

Having discounts maintained separately from products is useful when it comes to applying them to a group of products / categories, but sometimes it can be a nuisance where a discount may only be applicable to a single product.

It would be helpful if there were a facility to create discounts 'on the fly' while creating a product listing. A single 'Quick Discount' field added to the product entry page could automatically create an entry in the Discounts table, with an incrementing code (e.g. QD1,QD2...) and associated with the single product. Alternatively, provide a means on the product listing page to associate an existing discount (as for Categories / Characteristics).

Hi,

If you have one specific discount for each product that's indeed not adapted.
Concerning your alternative, What you could do is create some specific discount categories and use these categories in your discounts so that they apply only to the products in these categories. Then, you could just add the category to a product so that it would get the discount applied to its prices.

Yes, I can see how that would work, but is there an easy way to stop these discount categories from appearing in the category listings / navigation? ...or do I just need to create a 'feature' of the 'Money Off' category! :)

Of course not.
You need to create a category that you unpublish. Then, below it, you can have your discount categories. That way, they won't appear in your listings on the front end but they will still be used for the discounts since they are published.
