Paypal payment notification refused:invalid amount

I have only received this twice now but wondering why it happens.

The transaction went through ok into Hikashop, put client through to Paypal for payment which they paid fine, but for some reason the amount that went to paypal was 1 cent more than what was recorded in Hikashop and when Paypal sent the details back to Hika, I get the error "Paypal payment notification refused:invalid amount" and hikashop records the order as cancelled.

I just changed order to shipped as I did receive the correct monies - I just edited one of the amounts in the order on Hika to match the paypal amount.

Would this happen as a result of rounding in Hika? Something to do with the Australia Post module, Fee for credit card charged?

Its not big deal as long as the client doesn't get a message saying the order has been cancelled.

Hi,

The problem usually comes from PayPal not rounding properly the calculations when you turn on the "send order details" option of the PayPal plugin.
If that option is turned on, HikaShop send all the details of the order to PayPal and HikaShop cannot force the total price to pay as PayPal wants to recalculate it.

Tbanks for that - although I like the details of the order in Paypal I have turned the send order details off again.

One thing I think I have asked on the forum before but don't think I had an answer is also to do with Paypal and the Fee. I have put a 2.5% fee in for anyone using Paypal to cover majority of the fee that paypal charges me. This works fine except for one thing. In Australia we have GST and charging a fee like that is the same as selling something so it needs to have the 10% tax assigned to it.

I am losing a little each sale because of the tax shortfall but it adds up with lots of sales.

Maybe a checkbox can be added next to the FEE field which if checked will add Tax to that Fee - so this would cover both situations.

The problem is that the payment fees are added after the taxes are calculated. So that's not so easy to do. That would create a lot of issues and stuff to change in HikaShop.
Why not simply increase the fee to 2.7% to include the tax payment on the fees ?

Also, please note that, per PayPal's TOS, you are not allowed to charge for PayPal fees:

Thanks - we will just have to wear the losses.

In Australia you are allowed to charge fees for using a credit card. If I am getting stung by a fee then I am passing that onto a client. They do have the choice to pay by direct deposit which is a far better option for us and attracts no fees.
