Unwanted Characters in Content Menu

Hi,
This issue has caused me to loose sleep over the past 24hours. It seems that in the content menu, the character '>' appears on the left. Where, or what file should be modified?
Joomla 3, Latest Hikashop Version.

The site is still temporarily offline but at any rate, when doing a category listing, the categories have a leading > character example:

Category 1
> Sub Category 1.1
> Sub Category 1.2
Category 2
> Sub Category 2.1
> Sub Category 2.2

I would like to take off the > character.

As Mohamed said, it quite complicated to help you without visualizing where the problem occurs.
Could you be more precise about how you generate this listing? Is it just a module/menu?
