connection to Canada Post is not working

I've had HikaShop working for about a year with the Canada Post shipping plugin. Recently the following message comes up at the shipping step of checkout. It typically appears when the browser gives up trying to connect with CP.

"An error occurred. The connection to the Canada Post server could not be established: couldn't connect to host"

I haven't changed any HikaShop parameters/options in several months and the current configuration was working prior to this development. CP techs say everything is working at their end and to make sure that port 3000 is open.

It means that your server is not able to contact the server cybervente.postescanada.ca on the port 30000 (and not 3000) using cURL. So I invite you to contact your hosting company to check with them that such connection is possible. If cURL is not available, or the port 30000 closed, or outgoing connections forbidden by a firewall, your server won't be able to retrieve the rates from CanadaPost.
That has nothing to do with HikaShop settings or code and you can't fix the situation by changing something in hikaShop.

Dear Developer Program Member:

Canada Post web services will be unavailable while we perform a technical upgrade on Saturday, June 15 at 9 p.m. until Sunday, June 16 at 7 a.m., Eastern Time. During this time, our servers will not be able to respond to calls from your website or application. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We will be upgrading contract shipping web services to version 3. Please note that only shippers with a U.S.-based manifest address need to upgrade to version 3 at this time.

If you are a U.S.-based shipper with a U.S. manifest address please note the following:
A new field called country-code is now part of the Transmit Shipments request. You must enter US in this new country-code field.
For all contract shipping web services, update to version 3 (with the exception of Get Artifact).

Les services web de Postes Canada ne seront pas disponibles pendant que nous effectuerons une mise à niveau technique du samedi 15 juin à 21 h au dimanche 16 juin à 7 h, heure de l’Est. Pendant cette période, nos serveurs ne pourront pas répondre aux appels de votre site Web ou application. Nous regrettons tout inconvénient causé par cette situation.

Nous procéderons à la mise à niveau des services Web d’expédition avec convention (version 3). Veuillez noter que seuls les expéditeurs ayant une adresse de manifeste des É.-U. doivent passer à la version 3 à ce moment-ci.

Si vous êtes un expéditeur situé aux É.-U. ayant une adresse de manifeste des É.-U., veuillez noter ce qui suit :
Un nouveau champ nommé country-code fait maintenant partie de la demande Transmettre les envois. Vous devez entrer US dans ce nouveau champ.

Thanks for the notice about the planned CP service outage, but the dates do not coincide. Besides this problem turned out to be due to the port somehow becoming closed, as Nicolas suggested. Still looking into that, though.
