How to show the default characteristic in name

I set "Append characteristics value to product name" to be yes, but the default characteristics are not shown with the product name when entering the product page. For example, product "Iphone 5" has two characteristics, "carrier", and "capacity". The default values are "verizon" and "16Gb", but when loading the product page, these default characteristics are not appended to the product name. Only when I change one characteristic, the name get updated with the characteristics. Is there a way to make sure the default characteristics are displayed with the product name?

When your product page is load, your MAIN product will be loaded without any characteristics (this is your problem), if you want your default characteristic to be automatically loaded, you'll have to edit the code of your "show_default" file of your product view of your front-end template, and then use some JavaScript and php code to load your default characteristics info and then display it.
