My shop contains a lot of used stuff. Some of that is priced too high (i guess, because it is never sold), and something have no price as I have no idea of the worth.

I would like to have a "place bid" button where the customer could place a bid. Then it get added to the shopping cart, and the customer can confirm order (also together with other normal priced products). But no opportunity to pay until I have accepted the bid.

Its not an auction function, but only to place one single bid, and then send it the shopping cart.

What do you think about this? Am I the only one who wants this?

Hi,

You can do that by leaving the price as "free" and creating a custom field of the table "item".
That way, when the user is in the checkout, he won't see any payment method and you will be able to set the price in the order yourself on the backend. Then, you'll be able to tell the user to pay it via his orders listing on the frontend if you turn on the "allow users to pay later" option of the configuration.
You'll also want to configure some restrictions on your payment methods in order to not allow the user to order both type of products at the same time. (for example, set really high dimensions to these products and set a maximum volume in your payment methods)
