Front end - add new product

-- PHP version -- : 5.6.29

Hi,
I have setup separate categories for each vendor and there will only be one category per product. I have added extra categories with the vendor and these show up in the list when adding a new product. Is it possible to suppress the initial category display so the vendor can choose only from the allocated categories.

Hope this makes sense.

Hello,

I think I understand your configuration but I don't understand why each vendor have his "vendor home" if you don't want to use it.
At this moment, why not replacing the vendor by a specific category that each vendor will have access ? Or make the vendor home dynamic so you can configure it for each vendor ?

Hi Jerome,

I have set the vendor root category for each vendor and this is what is being displayed for a new product. If the vendor does not change it to a subcategory, the product is set to a parent category ie vendor root category. I want them to select the relevant subcategory.

Hi,

I see.
So the best would be to use a small custom plugin which will allow you to perform some tests/controls when a product is saved in the front-end.
Your custom plugin will refuse that the product is saved if the category is not right selected.
The vendor can also have a warning message explaining him how the save was not performed.
