If I want to do a batch import through a CSV file and I have a couple of custom fields; e.g. for vehicles, Top_speed and fuel_consumption can I just go into the MySQL DB and add those 2 fieldnames to the hikashop_product table?

That's a possibility.
We also have the possibility to add custom fields on products, in commercial versions of HikaShop, via the menu Display->Custom fields.

Hi I am trying to do the same.
I have products that will require anything from 1 to 10 different characteristics and each will have their own prices.
I would prefer to use a CSV file to upload these items as the vast amount of items that I will be selling is huge.
Can somebody advise me on the best way to configure my CSV File
I have 7 Different Menu Catagories, each with up to 5 sub catergories, and then up to 8 different Products in each.
The Products could have upto 10 different Characteristics.

Thanks

Hi,

10 characteristics ? Are you talking about hikashop characteristics ? or custom product field values ?
I doubt that you can have 10 characteristic for a product. That will probably be too much variants.
I would recommend to use custom fields or options instead of characteristics to avoid eating too much resources on your website.

In any case, you should create one or two products like you want and make sure that they are displaying like you want on your front end. Then, once that's ok, you can export them and you will get a CSV which you can copy for the structure of your CSV with all your products.
