Hi

Ok, can't seem to work this out in Hikashop. I need to create a link that in the main menu that goes to the home page of my shop. I create a link to MySHOP and choose HikaShop » Category / Listing. This opens up to the list of categories across a page. I can assign menus to the left and right columns which is fine and then the category listing appears in the middle which is in the main content area of Joomla when you add ?tp=1 at the end of URL.

What I actually want to do is to show an article (or intro text welcome to MYSHOP, etc) to sit in the main content window with category listing in the left hand menu, shopping cart in the right hand menu and underneath the introduction text is to show Featured Products.

Thanks

Ps - Does Hikashop have a TAG CLOUD plugin? Is it possible to show a list of products viewed by the client?

Hi,

So what you want to do is not a category listing menu. You want to do that:

1. Create a joomla article where you put your shop intro text.
2. Create a normal joomla menu to it with the joomla menu manager.
3. Create a new HikaShop content module via the modules manager of joomla and set its type of content to categories in its hikashop options. Also, assign that module to the menu you created in point 2 and set it to the left position of your template.
4. Create a category "featured products" in HikaShop and unpublish it.
5. Add that category to your featured products as a second category.
6. Create a new HikaShop content module via the modules manager of joomla and, in its hikashop options, set its type of content to products and its parent category to the category you created in point 4. Also, assign that module to the menu you created in point 2 and set it to the botom position of your template.
7. Edit your hikashop cart module via the joomla modules manager and assign it to the right position of your template and to the menu created in point 2 and publish it.
8. Enjoy

There is no tag cloud for hikashop.
There is also no module to display the products recently viewed by the client.

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks - a great help.

One question though, if I name my menu link SHOP when I click on that link in the main menu it now goes to the home page with all the stuff I want on it.

However, when I click on a product in featured products or click on one of the categories in the categories menu, the friendly URL doesn't contain the word SHOP in it anymore ie www.mydomain.cm/shop.html but now lists www.mydomain.com/component/hikashop/category/catogoryname.html or www.mydomain.com/component/hikashop/product/productname.html
How do I get rid of this URL - its friendly but irrelevant - I don't want the words component or hikashop or category or products to come up in the URL.

Thanks

You need to select the menu in the the menu option of your module.
You can also personalize further the URLs with the SEF options of the configuration of HikaShop.

Hi

I cant seem to work this out.

What I have in my Main menu of the site is a menu item called SHOP. This is of type K2 item (article). On this page I have managed to create a shopping cart module assigned to the right column - right of the k2 item shop introduction text.

I have created a content module for categories which is assigned to the left columm and is appearing on my home page. The categories are showing ok but if I click on this the URL at the top does not stay within my shop URL. This seems to only work if I create my home page using a menu item based on hikashop category listing. But then I can't assign my article to that home page.
I have created a hika categories module which I have assigned to the left menu and this looks fine. At the bottom I have created another module which I call featured products that appears at the bottom of the page. All this looks fine and the home page is functioning as I would like.

But if I click on any category, or any product showing in the featured products, or on the product that might be list in the Shopping Cart on the home page, it takes me away from the Shop path back to component/hikashop, etc. I assign it to a menu link and nothing happens. I still get the same URL. And my breadcrumbs do not work at all because of this.

If I created a menu item that is a Hika shop category listing and call the menu item shop, I click it and get to a page with the catgories, then click on a category and get taken to sub category, etc. The breadcrumbs work fine, but doing this I can't get a Joomla or K2 Item on that same page. And I don't want the categories to show in the middle content - I just want them to appear in a menu.

Hope I am making sense
Thanks

That's normal. The beginning of the URLs in Joomla is defined by the content you display in the main area.

In all your hikashop content modules, you need to select a hikashop category listing menu in the menu option of the hikashop options of the module.

Hi Nicolas

Thanks for help so far. Have a couple more questions. Have attached images to go with my questions.

I have a categories menu of products on left side and shopping cart on the right side. When I click on a category I get a list of the categories no problem as you can see in the image.

1. I can't work out how to get rid of the products that are showing below the categories (in the middle of the screen) - I don't want products to appear when you are on a categories or sub categories page

2. The shopping cart does not fit the text very well. Is it possible to get a shopping cart similar to that of prestashop - also attached image. I like the idea of it being neat - all on one line (I don't want to be able to add or subtract more products either). The other thing I like with Prestashop cart module is that you can click on cart and the cart will appear in the main content area and you can make changes, etc here or you can click on checkout. Is this possible in Hikashop.

Hope I make sense
Thanks

1. In the associated module of your menu, you need to set the "sub element filter" option to "direct sub elements".

2. You have some options on the cart module for the display. If you want to personalize it further to look like prestashop, it's totally possible. You need to edit the file "cart" of the view "product" via the menu Display->Views and change the code there.

Thanks Nicolas,

I have everything already set to Direct sub Elements. If I do change it to all sub elements, then all the products associated with the sub categories will show. When I change it back to Direct Sub Elements, all the products disappear except for 2. I wonder why just those 2 products show. Also when I finally click on a product to bring up the product details, all the categories are showing below the product information. Unsure as to how this is appearing.

Those 2 products show because they are attached directly to the current category.

For the second problem, it must be because you have a category listing module which is set to be displayed on the product page. Hard to give more precise information without looking at the page.

Hi Nicolas

I did something strange and what was working doesn't seem to be now. I am really liking Hikashop so far but am so confused with what I was asking previously in this thread regarding having an article as my main shop page with intro text, and assigning modules in the left and right columns. I have managed this ok and all is working except for the module I have called Product Categories. This is showing the products ok, but when I click on the category the problems start.

If you click on this link www.ecomad.com.au/ecomadNEW/ecoshop.html you will see the home page of the shop.

Just under the Home menu item you will see the Breadcrumbs and when you start off it just says ecoSHOP.

If you click on the category DRAUGHT SEALS in the Product Categories menu on the left you will see a list of sub categories come up which is fine - although I cant work out why the layout is appearing with the text to the right of the image. The other problem here is to look at the breadcrumb. The ecoSHOP (or shop home) has disappeared and is now replaced with Draught Seals.
The bread crumbs start to build if you click on the DOOR but no products appear.

I have gone to the Product Categories module (the one that shows the product category menu list), and have set the menu to ecoSHOP. I notice though in the menu drop down that when I scroll down to Main Menu all the links under my main menu are listed which are about 60 BUT, even though the menu ecoSHOP appears only once when I go to the normal Joomla menu it appears 2 times in the menu drop down list in the hika module. I don't know if this is a bug. It looks like it is showing published and unpublished menus.

So what I want the menu list on the left (Product Categories) to do when you click on the link is the same as the following:

Click on the menu item in the horizontal bar at top of website - ecoSHOP. In the drop down that appears, click on the Product Categories label. I have set this up to be a categories listing menu. You will see the breadcrumbs build up with ecoSHOP -->Shop Categories-->DRAUGHT SEALS-->DOORS-->Product Name which is good.

How to do this for the main page. I have been trying for hours different combinations of things and going back over your previous instructions in this thread and nothing seems to work. It is probably something so simple I can't see it.

Thanks for your help.

The problem comes from this: "I have gone to the Product Categories module (the one that shows the product category menu list), and have set the menu to ecoSHOP"

The menu you set in your category listing module should be a HikaShop category listing menu. The menu you selected there is an article display. That's why it's not working properly and not displaying the products. You should selected there your "Shop Categories" menu.

Wondering if you can help me on this one.

If you look at this link www.ecomad.com.au/ecomadNEW/index.php?op...name=leds&Itemid=275
and see the list of products.

I am trying to find which view is making this page as I would like to put the price and the Add to Cart button to the right of the description so in order - image, product description, then image price and Add to Cart under price is what I am after. Also, if I change the css of the price on this product listing (I want to change to font-size: 120% and a different colour) it also affects other modules and the cart, anywhere a price is being shown. How do I make it specific to that module?

The other thing that doesn't seem to work is for the product listing you see on that page, I can't left align the product name to the left. If I change the css for the style name, it also affects the feature products at the bottom of the page. Also the border and text-align options seem to work in the module parameters but the corners stay round even if you select no. Might be a bug.

Thanks

It's the file "listing_img_desc" of the view "product" that you can edit via Display->Views.

You should use in your CSS the id hikashop_category_information_module_181 so that it is limited to only that module.

Thanks Nicolas - as usual a great help

Have it pretty much sorted now - www.ecomad.com.au/ecomadNEW/hikashop-men.../16-downlight-covers

Am a bit confused with the following: www.ecomad.com.au/ecomadNEW/hikashop-men.../category_pathway-25

Under the product content the categories are listing - I can't work out how to remove this

That's because you published the module with the id 132 in the option "modules under the product page" of the Display tab of the config.

Delte that module 132 if you don't use it and it won't appear.

That did - thanks - was using it originally :)

Thanks for that.

Quick question re custom work. Can you do this and if so roughly how much? Really needing to get Paypal Fee (or credit card fee) incorporated as lose that on every transaction with Hika Shop. And would need this to show seperately to Shipping Fees and Handling Fees.
