You can create a special category in Products->Categories
Then, for each product you want to be featured, you can edit it, and add the special category you created to it.

Finally, you can go to Display->Content modules. There, create a new module. toggle off the content synchronization option and click on the select button of the parent category option and select that special category.
Then, you can tweak the other options to your need, save the options and click on the "joomla module options" button to configure where to display that module on your template.

Hi,
I did as you said but the prices in the Featured PRoducts are seems .00
I checked the code and there is a class named: span class="hikashop_product_price hikashop_product_price_0"
Do you know how can I fix it ?
Thank you.

You need to go in the menu System->Currencies, edit your currency and turn on the option "Symbol and positive value space separation". That will solve the problem.

Hello,

I needed something different than showing featured products in general.

My client needed to have featured products in every category, example: one category has 100 products, but he wants 5 of them featured on the beginning of the page of a certain category. And the same for other categorys. The number of featured products per category must be variable..

How can i do this? Is it possible to add this kind of option on the product page, and independent of the category im showing?

Hope i was clear about the question.

Thanks in advance.

Pedro.

Hi,

If you need to display the featured products on the product page, you can create your module.
Then in the Config > Main > Product, you can select this module for the option "Module to display under the product page".

But doing it this way, the number of featured products will not be variable.
To have something variable, you have to create many modules, and then use a plugin like "loadmodule" to display these modules where you want by editing some views like "category / listing_img_title" or "product / show_default" depending on where you want to display it.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

But, my idea was to have the featured products on the beginning of a product listing, of a certain category of products.

Not on the product page. (But thanks for the tip before)

To do this i think it was necessary to have an option on the product configuration (a new field in the product table) indicating that it is a featured product, then in the module visualization options, i needed an option telling that i only wanted to show the products marked as "featured" of a certain category..

And so i could have a listing of 100 or 1000 products, etc, width 5, 10, 15, etc, featured products on the beginning of a certain category listing.

Is this possible, have you ever considered an approach like this?

Thanks

Pedro.

Hi,

Ok so you want some products to be displayed first in a listing of all the category products.
I think that you have to create a custom field in the table product, in Display > Custom fields. Set a default value of 0 on this custom field.
On the product edition page set to 1 the value of this field for the featured products.

And then in the menu/module options, change the ordering to order on the custom field previously created.

Hello again,

Your solution is almost perfect :) and very clever.

But i still have one problem, i have to create as many modules as the product categories i have. Or am i wrong?

How is it possible with the same module, published to a specific position ex: loadFeaturedProds, and load the module with the loadposition plugin, on the description of a certain category, so i can show the featured products ( example: only 5 products out of 100), of the category i am listing?

Maybe it is already possible, but i can't see it.

Thanks

I wouldn't use a custom field.
I would rather create unpublished "featured" categories and then add these categories to the products which have to be featured based on the category.
Then I would create one module per category and select the featured category in the "associated category" of the module.
And load that module in the corresponding category with the load position plugin of joomla.

There is no category synchronization system for what you want to do. You will have to have one module per category.
