Hi,

I have a product that got 2 characteristics. Lets just call them A and B. My customer just have to select one option from A OR B. A and B both have different prices. The problem is, when the customer selects A, and then wants to change to B, the B price is not reflected. The product price still show A's price. Thus, there is some problem in the refreshing of prices.

On a sidenote, when the customer changes selection from A to B, the A option still shows up (as if customer selected both A and B), the A option did not blank out automatically.

Please help. Thanks!

Did you go in the "manage variants" area of your product in order to set all you prices in the different variants of your product ? Because from what I can see, all the variants of the product have either the same price or no price and your main product price.

Yes I did the "manage variants". If you would click on the second characteristic right away when you enter that page, you can see that the price is different from the original. The original price belongs to the first characteristic.

The problem is, once you select any option from the first characteristic, and have a change of mind, now you click on one of the option from the second characteristic, the new price isn't reflected, it still shows first characteristic price. Thus, that was what I meant by some kind of refreshing issue. When you select an option from the second characteristic, the first characteristic option (that you previously choosed) doesn't blank out automatically.

It's not a refreshing issue because if I put back the first characteristic to its default value, the price comes back to the second price 342, instead of the initial price of 373. So it works properly if you have a change of mind.

The system behaves like you set your variants.
You deleted the variants where both characteristic are set, so when you select both variants, the user can't buy the product and the price is the main product price.

If you want, you can change the option "Characteristics selection method" of the Display tab of the configuration to "table" and that will display the characteristics differently on your product page and you won't be able to select a non existent variant.

Thanks for this, amazing what you can find out by reading your forum Nicolas. I've just used this to set up a variant to change the price depending on what the user selects on a drop down. I will use this a lot on alot of products.

But looking ahead, it brings up another question in my mind. On some products I will want to show variants that don't need to change the price or dynamically change the product page title. I'm not sure yet but I think there will be a product or two later down the road that will need both types, variants that don't change price/title, and variants that do change price and title. Is this possible?

By default the variants don't change the price. So there is nothing to do for that, just don't set any price in the variants.

For the product name, by default the characteristic value is appended to it when you change the characteristic selection. If you don't want that on some products, you can copy/paste the product name in the variants product name and that should do the trick.
