products end up in default map, not in category

As the subject states: when I want to place a product in a sub-category (eg. Toys in the HikaShop demo), it ends up in the default map, even though I've made a few extra categories.

Still working with Joomla 1.5.9 (no clue how to make a back up), are there any compatibility issues between 1.5.9 and HikaShop? If not, how do I get the categories to accept the products.

thanks!

You need to set the category in the "categories" area of the product. Otherwise, if you don't specify any category, the system will automatically put your product in the main product category.

that's the feature in the top right corner while you are entering a product description etc. right?

Because that I have tried and it keeps setting it to the default map.

Yes. You need to navigate the categories, check the categories you would like to add to your product and then click on OK in the popup to add them to the product

In next version of HikaShop, we will automatically set the current category of the listing of products if the user doesn't enter any categories for a new product.
That will make it more easy for new comers.
