Number of Products Dispayed

On the front end, 20 products are displayed under a product category. Is there a configuration setting to display more than that; say 50.

Yes, in the associated products listing module of your menu, you can change the "number of items" option to increase the number of products displayed.
To access it, edit your menu via the menu Display->Content menus and then click on the link going to the associated module of your menu and there you will find the option.
