moving site

Hi, I've taken charge of a Joomla site that someone else set up, and it is my first time working with both Joomla and Hikashop. I have moved all the files and the database to my own server to work on the site there. I can't seem to get all of the parts of Hikashop to come up in the copied site -- namely these seem to be missing:
HikaShop Content Module
HikaShop joomla user account link plugin
HikaShop order history plugin
HikaShop products search plugin
HikaShop user synchronization plugin

Does anyone know how I can get these items moved from the working site to my "test" site? I do not have the full version install file for Hikashop and was not given the original user login information in order to re-download it.

Hi,

The simplest is to install akeeba backup extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-...security/backup/1606 on your website, do a backup of the website and restore it locally. That way, you will be able to easily make a copy of your website without missing some of the parts.

Thanks; I did try the Akeeba backup a couple of times and gave up after much frustration creating, attempting to download and re-upload the backup files that were a minimum of 3GB (there is a lot on the current server and I'm not sure how much of it I actually need). Then trying to install the backup failed. I tried another backup program which crashed the site by doing "something", thankfully I had a backup of the database that I was able to switch to. I had to resort to moving all the individual files and database manually but now have the issue of a couple of the extensions not being completely recognized in the test site.

Ah yes, if your website is really big these automatic solutions are not well suited.

In that case, you should export the SQL database from phpmymadmin directly, and download all the files of the website via FTP.

Then, put your files in your local web server and import the SQL database file via your local phpmyadmin and you should then be able to access your website (you might need to edit the configuration.php file of Joomla to change the database information).

Yes, that is exactly what I did. About half of the extensions transferred just fine but the parts of Hikashop that I mentioned did not come up after the transfer, even after I did the "discover" under extensions.

We use that method to regularly backup websites using HikaShop and it has always worked properly.

If it doesn't for you, it's probably that the transfer of some of the files didn't work.

OK so I will try to download all the Hikashop files again. Is there anywhere I need to look besides:

administrator > components > com_hikashop
components > com_hikashop
modules > mod_hikashop, mod_hikashop_cart, mod_hikashop_currency
plugins > hikashop, hikashoppayment, hikashopshopping

Well I downloaded all the files again and still no luck. I had to make a fresh Joomla install, install Hikashop (hoping it's not the business version) and then copied the file; now it works fine. Something is not being copied over, I just don't know what.

Hard to say. But if you copy all your joomla files and all your joomla database, I don't see why HikaShop wouldn't work after that.
