Hi

In our shop we recieve orders by mail and phone daily. I wonder how Hikashop admins deal with this.

1 - How to add users (customers)? Is this possible?

2 - How to assing orders to a concrete users (I see the option to create orders but you have to manually enter all the data)

3 - I was going to ask how to manually create orders for customers, I guess you can use master password plugin and create an order for a user from the frontend login with the user account and the master password.

Regards

With Hikashop you can create new orders in the backend for a customer, but the main thing that is missing is the payment methods and shipping methods being able to work with the payment and shipping plugins.

For example, if a customer calls in and wants to pay by credit card, you can't create an order in the backend and process the credit card for the customer.

For now you just have to create orders in the front end of your website, just like a customer would if they came to your site.

It would be really nice if hikashop had the ability to process payments and calculate shipping rates on orders in the backend so admins could quickly create and process phone orders.

Hi wildfire, thanks for answer.

The phone calls we take are for customer paying on "cash on delivery", we never though of another payment option for this phone or mail orders.

You tell me you can create orders on the backend for the customers, that's fine for new customers where you have to enter all the data.

BUT what about usual customers, do you enter the data each time they call or send an order?

I can't find any option to create new customers, you have to do it in the frontpage too, through normal register?

That sounds a bit messy.

Regards

EDIT: Lies, they can pay on bank transfer too.

Hikashop right now does not handle creating of orders in the backend very well.

You have to set up a new joomla user and then in the Sales area of hikashop you create a new order, select the user you created, enter their billing and shipping address, and then add the products.

You can't create the joomla user in the hikashop backend (not even in the customers area of the backend) and if you select an existing customer, it does not show their existing shipping and billing addresses.

It is actually a pretty tedious system to use, so we mainly just use the backend for editing existing orders and use the front end for creating new orders.

We wish hikashop had a better system for creating new orders on behalf of new and existing customers in the backend.

Thanks wildfire

I agree with you, not really an easy solution to manage it.

Would be nice to read something from the developers about this, if there are plans to improve the actual system.

Can't understand why theres no "create user" in the customer area. This seems something really basic for a shop and a pain in the neck not having it.

Hikashop is outstanding in simplicity and flexibility, the more I try it the more I like it but this feature is basic nowadays for any e-commerce solution.

Hi,

You can create users via the joomla user manager. So we didn't do it because it's not the easiest thing to do and because there is already an alternative.

We want to improve the order edition/creation on the backend like for example the selection of the address of the user. It's in the todo list, like a lot of things :)

Perhaps good to know that there is another user (me) who likes to create orders from the backend, without the need of confirmation of the customer.
Sometimes I like to sell something which is not standard in the shop. Then I like to create an order with a new product and a new customer and finaly send a link of the order to my customer. With that link, the customer can choose the payment options and pay in the way he/she prefers.
Hope these options will be available in a feature update.

Thanks!

Hi Nicolas,

How do you answer so many posts so promptly? Fabulous! Not really my question and thanks I'm sure from all of us.

Related to this thread, upon telephone conversation with a customer, I would like to be able to make CC payment on an existing order from the back end (via a payment plugin, eg, PayPal). Noticed that the order class has a pay() method which invokes, at least in some cases, the payment plugin hooks onBeforeOrderCreate() and onAfterOrderConfirm(). Gave me hope such a capability might exist... I'd sure like to make sure my new PayPal Payments Advanced plugin would be able to do this, if possible.

1. Is there a back end way to do this? (As a newbie, perhaps I missed it).

2. Can a customer from the front end make CC payment on an existing order that he already created?

Cheers,
/george

Hi,

It is possible in the front-end to make CC payment on an existing order.
In the Configuration > Checkout there is two options : "Payment of orders not paid immediately" and "Allow customers to change their payment method after checkout"
As explain here: www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...config.html#checkout

Customers have to open their orders ( index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=order ) to access to this feature.
