Adding one item takes me to registration page.Why?

Why is it that when i add only one item to my cart it automatically takes me to the registration page. After each item it will take me to the purchase page without me pressing proceed to checkout? How can i change this so it only goes to checkout if I press the checkout button not after adding an item to the cart.
