Hello Nicolas,

I am designing a clients site with 1 product and 3 options. One of the options is to add personalized text to the item with optional Fonts and Colors characteristics and variants

This is what I have done.
The Main product is setup with options from another category called "personalized text"
I created the category with the item called "Add text" with characteristics Yes/No The variant "yes" will add the additional pricing.
I have created an "Item" Custom Field "text" called "personalized text" where they will type in the text they want.
I have created an "Item" Custom Field "text" called "font type" only to select the type of font they want.
I will be creating an "Item" Custom field "text" called "font color"

If the customer chooses to add the personalized text I would like for the Custom Fields to appear after selecting the option, and make them required fields.

I'm not sure if I am going about this the right way?

Thanks

There is no link between the custom fields of an option and the product page of the main product where that option is used, so you won't see your custom fields.
You should add them to the main product.
Then, it would require some javascript customization in the "option" file of the view "product" via the menu display->Views to display/hide the custom fields based on the option selection.

Hello Nicolas,

I also sail the same boat. I need to add 2 custom fields where in the Condition and Warranty for the product should be displayed. Can you please help in explaining more detail what should be done.

Thanks in advance.

From what I understand, you want to create custom fields of the table "product" via the menu Display->Custom fields in order to enter the waranty/condition information on your back end so that it can then be displayed on the product page, right ?

Yes Nicolas. You are correct. When I choose custom fields I have option only for creating in address. So I thought of either adding two fields manually to product update page in the backend and update database accordingly so that it will be populated in the frontend display as well or I can can I have option to create field using custom fields and have the same populated in products page. The reason is, each product will have different warranty and different condition. Also if I need to edit product update page which file should I need to use.

Thanks in advance.

That's because you're using the Starter edition. The other custom fields tables are available in the commercial editions.

For the product edition page, you should edit the file "form" of the view "product" for your back end template via the menu Display->Views.
