category list on the left on any page and carousel

hello,

I'd like to have the list of shop categories on the left of the page. as you can see on my site www.spaldingfasteners.co.uk there is the cart on the left and I need the list of categories there too. I've been playing around with the menus but I can't figure out how to do it.
I'd also like to set up a carousel - I've been reading on the forums about these but how and where on the back end do I go to set one up?

any help would be much appreciated!

As I see you're not using Joomla's standard Contact Us component and there is a map on your site, you may interest on a free googlemap plugin on JED. Just search "googlemap" there.

I had visited your site and saw the map (mouse over will switch to a text). Regarding my first reply, I was recommending something for that. With a google map centered on your address, people can zoom in/out and switch to 3D-photo of the scene ... sorry again I am not answering your original question.

looking at other posts you have made on here you appear to be a user of hikashop not one of the members of staff who answer questions - is this correct? if not please forgive my assumption - I have used these forums several times to ask how to do something or to report problems and Nicolas has always been a huge help every time.
