Multiple Shipping methods

I'm currently using Australia Post shipping method which works brilliantly. The shipping is hidden until the customer logs in and adds the shipping address as it should. However we now want to add a "Free Pickup" option. I can create this with a manual shipping method but this method displays in the cart prior to the customer logging in which makes it look like this is the only method offered. Is there a way to hide the manual shipping method until the customer logs in, the same as the Australia Post method does? I've tried using a postcode range but prior to login this give an ugly warning that there is no shipping method available.
