Hi,

we recently adopted hikashop to create one of our online shops.
It works fine, except one thing:

We created a Joomla menu to view the hikashop product categories (menu-type: hikashop, category-listing).
That works without problems, it points to the categories and if i click one i see all products that it contains.
The url generated has this structure:

xxxxxx.com/de/new-shop/name-category

Now, since we only have one level of categories, we want to show a second menu containing all the categories, ex.:

category1
category2
category3
category4
category5

So, we created a hikashop module, set the display type to categories, and, surprise, they show up in the list we wanted.
The trouble is, clicking on them leads us to a 404 page, the urls generated are totally different:

xxxxxx.com/de/component/hikashop/category/15-books

Do you have any idea why this happens? We tried everything we could for a few days, but it still does not work. =/

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

In the "menu" option of the hikashop options of your module, you need to select your "new shop" menu and that should solve your problem.

Hi,

first of all: thanks for your answer.
We tried to set the given option, but it didn't work (it was already set).
Here are two screenshots of the options we set (menu and module):

The urls generated by the categories inside the content are:
xxxxxxx.com/de/new-shop/category/14-storia

And those generated by the module:
xxxxxxx.com//component/hikashop/category/14-storia

Thanks and best regards!

Please check the joomla options of your menu item. It needs to be public and in a valid menu. The menu item also need to be published. You can check all that via the joomla menu manager.

Thanks, we had a double menu item, that caused the trouble, but now it works.
One problem remains:
We want to always display the first level of categories (main categories), so we switched off the "Synchronize with currently displayed item when possible" option (otherwise they disappear when a category is selected).
The problem is, that the active category (and parent category) is not selected anymore (since they are not synched).
Is there a way to always show the parent categories and mark the current category as active?

Best regards and thank you!

Please make sure that you're using the latest version of HikaShop as we added the selection of the current category recently.

Thanks for your quick response.

We updated from 1.5.7 to 1.5.8, but we still don't get the item highlighting to work.
Maybe my explanation what we want to achieve was too complicated and/or confusing,
i try to explain it in a better/simpler way:

We have a menu item called "New Shop" that links to a Hikashop Category/Listing page.
We want to display all existing categories inside that page.
That page works, also the menu item works.

But we want also have a module/submenu that always shows all categories, once you are inside the shop.

For instance, i click the "new shop" menu item, i go to the categories listing page,
on the left side of the page, i want to have a list of all categories (so far we only have one level of categories,
so no subcategories).

So we created a hikashop content module wich lists all categories.
On "associated category" we selected the hikashop main category wich contains all our categories, then we turned off "synch with current menu" so that the module always shows all categories.
If i click one of them, i go onto a page where i can see all the products of the desired category.
So far, everything is ok.

But, the problem is, the selected category does not get highlighted.

- Is it correct that we switched off the "synchronize with current menu" option (we always want the main categories to show up)?
- By "current category" do you mean the "associated category" option inside the module?

Thanks again for your patience and help,
Best regards!

- it is correct yes.
- no I mean the category of the link you clicked on to reach the page

Please give a link to your shop page so that we can see that.

The highlighting will only happen if you use the "list" layout in your categories module. That's why you don't see it actually as you are not using the list layout.

Hi,

You can add CSS code like this on your website for example:

li.hikashop_category_list_item.current.active a {
    color: red;
}
