How to allow customers to customise their products

Hello,

I'm thinking of investing in an eCommerce solution to my Joomla website and, based on what I've seen so far, I'm massively impressed with Hika Shop!

My website sells custom clothing to various student groups and societies, so I'm not sure if what I want to achieve is possible.

Can Hika Shop be configured so as to completely customise every item that is ordered? For example, a customer may wish to purchase 10 or 20 t-shirts, each with an individual name which could be embroidered or printed on the breast, sleeve or reverse of the shirt. They may also want to have a logo printed on the garment AND a crest embroidered. These customisations are all differently priced.

Therefore, is it possible to set up an infinite number of possible customisations that customers can add as seperate products onto the clothing they have selected?

I realise that I haven't actually invested in Hika Shop yet, so I'm not asking for a detailed instruction, more just a case of whether or this is possible and if there are any existing examples of this that I could check out.

Many thanks for your help, sorry if I've explained this badly, I think I've over-complicated it!

Hi,

If you want to have options on your products, you can do it with "options":
www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...ct-form.html#options
www.demo.hikashop.com/index.php?option=c...ow&Itemid=91&lang=en
You can also have custom fields of the table "item" in order to add input fields on your products. However, these fields cannot change the price of the product unless a small plugin is developed for your case.
The problem I see is that you can't have custom fields displayed or not based on options selection. But then I don't know the details of what you want to do, so it might not be a problem for you actually.

Thank you for your response :)

Hmm... I'm unsure if I'll be able to pursue this, in that case. I'm fairly new to web development so I'm not sure if I'm up to developing a plug-in yet.

Could I set up each customisation - "embroidered name", "printed logo" etc. as products in their own right and, if so, can you bolt products onto each other? For example, a customer could select a t-shirt and, from there, add the product 'embroidered name' onto it?

Thanks again.

No that's not possible. You'll probably need to find a developer for that then. We have a commercial jobs board where you can post an offer if you want to find someone to help you out.
