Shipping by product category

Is there any way I can specify a shipping method per product category?

For example, printer cartridges have a flat shipping rate of $11 incl tax. Inkjet printers have a rate of $17.50. Laser (corporate) are shipped for free.

Additionally, if someone orders printer cartridges and computer on one order, there will need to be a shipping charge for the cartridges, and possibly a second shipping charge for the computer as each is shipped from a different importer.

Any ideas?

I think that you should maybe use the "Use the prices per product" option of the manual shipping method, and set a shipping price for each product of yours (through the "Shipping prices" tab in the product page).
