Send Confirmation Email ONLY When Payment is Made

I'm testing the cart and whenever I go to Paypal and hit "Cancel and Return" it sends me an email, eg: Your order No. M11 is now confirmed at mysite.com

Is there a way to have that email sent ONLY when payment has been received.

Hi,

If you received the email "your order is now confirmed", your paypal plugin configurable should be wrong.
The email "your order is now confirmed" seems that the order is confirmed, so, that the payment has been made or the status for "cancel" is not right.

Hi Jerome,

In the email it also says "Your order will be processed as soon as we receive your payment. "

In the plugin I have the following settings:
- Invalid status: cancelled
- Pending status: created
- Verified status: confirmed

Should I change one of these settings to get it to work as I need it to?

Then that's not the confirmation email but the order creation email which is sent when an order is created.
The confirmation email is sent when the order is confirmed. It's a different email.

You can unpublish the "order creation notification" via the menu System->Emails in order to not send the order creation notification email and only get the order status notification which is sent when the order is confirmed.

I don't see where you can unpublish the email. Do you mean to leave the "Order creation notifications email address" blank and an email will not be sent?

Go back on the listing. There is a published column where you can click on the icon to unpublish it.

I'm clearly in the wrong place or is this only in the commercial version?

Is this not where I should be?

Or should I just remove the email that I have here "Order creation notifications email address" and it would work?

The Email tab of the configuration screen is something else which allows you to configure the sending settings of emails.
The System->Emails menu which allows you to fine tune each email of HikaShop is only in the Business edition.
If you don't have the Business edition and want to unpublish the email there is no interface for that and you will have to do it via the database:

We have the settings as you advised in Business 1.6.0 and it works. What we would like is that on PayPal orders we only receive an order confirmation after the customer has paid at PayPal. Right now we get an order created email followed by a corresponding payment notification if the customer pays. Is this possible? (We have HikaShop set through the cron option to cancel unpaid PayPal orders after 15 minutes, so we could streamline the order manager's work if they do not have to match created orders and payment notifications.)

There is no option for that.
The payment notification email is sent by the paypal plugin in hard code.
You would have to edit the code of the paypal plugin to modify the payment notification email:
